SteveG Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 (edited) ..... I added a C-6 Trans from the AMT 66 Farlaine GTA kit. I had to shorten the driveshaft a little but it's a good fit. I used the tire decals from the Revell 70 Torino GT. The correct interior tub is from the diecast Bullett kit. I still need to order my replacements from Revell. Here's the chassis painted and mocked up, the shocks and brackets will be added once the rear axle is glued in. I modified the gas tank to fill the screw hole and to look more correct. I've got the body painted with the base coats and about half the foil trim done. Once the remaining trim work is done I will clear coat it and polish it out. I will be using the white C-stripes and some additional decals from Keith Marks that I have on order. Stay tuned for more hopefully later this week ... -Steve Edited December 26, 2009 by SteveG
1972 Satellite Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 That looks real good Steve. Red primer and blue overspray are really appealing to the eye. That is going to be a real head-turner when done.
george 53 Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Not bad at all, Steve! in fact it's downright NICE Daddy-O! I actually have 2 of those, AND got the proper interiors from Revell from them. Just send the UPC codes from the side of the box an they'll send 'em to ya. Great job so far,an I likes the color! It'll REALLY look sharp with the white C-strip your talkin about!
Tom Kren Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Nice job Steve going to make you friend proud!
voljeepx Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Lookin' good so far Steve! Appears to be a very nice kit, any problems with it yet?
MyBradKeselowski Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 (edited) Nice, I like the color!!! Edited December 11, 2009 by kaseykahne09
kyledr330 Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Steve, Great work on the painting of the body, chassis and tires, looking really good. Are you going to wire the engine or add brake lines?
SteveG Posted December 11, 2009 Author Posted December 11, 2009 Lookin' good so far Steve! Appears to be a very nice kit, any problems with it yet? So far no real problems, It took a little work to get the C6 Trans from the Fairlaine to fit but that's on me. I finished up the foil trim work on the body last night so clear coat is next. I will be adding a prewired distributor and maybe a few other underhood details. Hopefully I'll get time to post some more photos this weekend. -Steve
SteveG Posted December 16, 2009 Author Posted December 16, 2009 (edited) I got the body all foiled and clear coated. The engine and engine bay is almost done, I'm going to jump on the interior next and then polish out the paint. I hope to finish it this weekend. -Steve Edited December 26, 2009 by SteveG
SteveG Posted December 26, 2009 Author Posted December 26, 2009 ....... the interior is now complete, I added a foil copied shifter housing from the MCP 73 Cougar kit. The wide brake pedal is from the Failane GTA. I also made a correct back seat backrest using some suggestion from the board and used some black flocking for carpet. The engine is also complete with the addition of the fan belt, drive accessories and the correct CJ air cleaner. If you're building one too leave the air cleaner loose until the final assembly. I added a painted low gloss black stripe to the hood and cowl panel. Blacked out the window trim edges and installed the rear view mirror ang glass. The bumpers and lamps are installed too. The body is now also ready for the final assembly and decals. I've been working on this past midnight almost every night but it was worth it. I managed to get it delivered and over to my friend Jim before he closed his shop for Christmas. It was a surprise present for him as thank you for some restoration work he did for me. I'll post more details on it along with the finished photos this weekend. Thanks for looking !!! -Steve
