Brizio Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Where I can find a kit? Or a lot of pics for scratchbuild one? Thanks!
Jim B Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 A chemical tanker? You'll either have to convert the AMT tanker, or scratchbuild one. Phil Jensen has a "How-To" article in his book "Building Model Trucks". It's an older style, but it's a start.
Brizio Posted December 14, 2009 Author Posted December 14, 2009 Ok thanks Jim! Do you know where I can find this book?
chuckyr Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Ok thanks Jim! Do you know where I can find this book? I have this book. Unfortunately this book, published in 1973 is among the most sought after book for truck modelers. Somebody actually bought one off of EBay a year or two back for close to $1000!
Porky Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 I have this book. Unfortunately this book, published in 1973 is among the most sought after book for truck modelers. Somebody actually bought one off of EBay a year or two back for close to $1000! Yep that book is hard to come by, I had two, the hard cover and the paperback. I sold the hard cover through fee bay a couple monthes back. Went cheaper than I had wished, less than 100.00 bucks.
Brizio Posted December 14, 2009 Author Posted December 14, 2009 I'll pass then... I like to build model and don't spend to much for them... Also I'm not a truck builder, and I'm having some difficult with this truck so probably after finish it, I will not built another one for a while...
Aaronw Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 AMT has a round tank trailer that would be a good starting point. Add some ribs around the body every couple of feet and it would look the part fairly painlessly. I see these trailers marked down under $30 quite frequently. There is one on ebay for $15 right now. (not mine, I just did a search to see if I could find the kit) http://cgi.ebay.com/AMT-Ertl-1-25-Scale-Fr...=item3ca859c208
Jim B Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 That's not a bad price, $15. Shipping's a little steep, $13.
Brizio Posted December 14, 2009 Author Posted December 14, 2009 Thank you for the link! The price its very good! I think to buy it! But before I want finish the truck so I can decide for sure if go for it or not.
Aaronw Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 That's not a bad price, $15. Shipping's a little steep, $13. Yeah, I didn't look at the shipping and he doesn't have any other model kits to combine shiping with. Still under $30 which isn't bad for that kit although I've seen cheaper. I got one last year at NNL West for $10, I didn't really want it but I picked it up to see what it was going for (marked $20) and the guy selling it practically shouted 10 bucks and its yours, I don't want to take it home. I had to help the poor guy out.
Jim B Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 But, Honey, it followed me home! Can I keeep it?
