'70 Buick Wildcat Lowrider

A bit out of character for me, but here goes.

It's the Model King reissue of the '70 Buford Wildcat, with Sean Svensen's killer lowrider decals, Hopppin' Hydros wheels and tires, and shaved handles.

I wasn't too happy when they re-popped that one, after laying down close to a 100 bucks, for an unbuild original.

But then again, sometimes you win and sometimes you don't.

Last month or so I even bought the Model King issue, the decals alone are worth the price so I guess I'm over it

I'm glad you worked too! It's Testors Deja Blue one coat.

Yeah- I think it could sit a touch lower, too, but hey.... lowriders ARE known for having adjustable suspensions!

That's the plan I have for mine. You'll need to lengthen the chassis ahead of the firewall, as the Wildcat was the B body on the Electra C body frame. I did the same thing when I rebuilt my '66 Wildcat earlier this year.

Here it is next to an unmodified chassis.

Gotta love them Buicks .

What a great idea for making a use of a newer chassis for a greatly under-represented car. I'm so glad AMT started making those separate frames; I never would've thought of that.

As a note, remember that even for a LeSabre, the frame would need to be stretched to a 123-inch wheelbase.

As a quick wheelbase reference for the 1965-66 full-size cars:

Chevy: 119"

Pontiac: Bonneville/Star Chief: 124" Catalina/Grand Prix/2+2: 121" (all wagons 121" wheelbase)

Olds: 88: 123" 98: 126"

Buick: Le Sabre: 123"; Wildcat/Electra 225: 126".

Cadillac: Calais/DeVille: 129-1/2", Fleetwood 60 Special/Fleetwood Brougham: 133" Fleetwood 75: 149-3/4"
