E St. Kruiser50 Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 (edited) Pic size of others on the forum, as well as my own pic size, have been flopping back and forth from day to day, from normal size to 99% resize - WHICH IS HUGE . Now that's where it seems to have settled in. I have IE8 ans FF, and everything was fine like most everyone else, but now the pics are huge, and there is no scroll bar. Every post I click on, the pics are huge now , AND SOMETIMES THE WORD POSTING IS EVEN LOST. Edited August 8, 2010 by Treehugger Dave
E St. Kruiser50 Posted December 30, 2009 Author Posted December 30, 2009 Which "skin" are you using Dave? I'm using IP Duo and have IE8 and haven't had any problems so far. The pictures will start out big,but after downloading is complete, they all resize. Try using a different skin and see if that helps. Thanks for responding . Your suggestion worked . I'm now back to a normal size pic after choosing a different "SKIN" . Thanks for the help - dave
Guest promodmerc Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Yep, Every skin causes some sort of problem. I like comfy best but it cuts off half the image. I have to change to the default one to see pics and at normal size.

Foxer Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Gregg is aware of the skins problem, as said in other posts. Different browsers and different shim combos are different problems It seems. I use Firefox, so not sure about this with IE8, but IP-Duo skin has been working best for me.
Harry P. Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Gregg is trying to contact the IPS tech guys. If there are answers to the skin glitches, they will have them. In the meantime, pick one that DOES work (there are a few!)...

Thanks Mike I like the "COMFY" skin the best, but the "Default" skin works the best for me as far as all around useability, and is easiest on the eye's, except for the comfy skin being the "BEST" visually.
crazyjim Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Been using IE 8 and comfy skin and haven't experienced problems. I haven't tried to post any pics yet - maybe when I complete the interior on a '33 Willys kit.
Gregg Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 I may try modify the default to the comfy colors when I get caught up right Harry? Thanks for your patience Maybe I should lock skins till I get it all sorted out?

Thanks for your patience Maybe I should lock skins till I get it all sorted out? I think most of us are being pretty patient, and realize changes bring about "Challanges" that need to be worked out . Don't think the're is a need to look out the "Skins". We each just need to find what works 'till it's all sorted out. I like most of the changes, and have "NO BEEF" (Where's the beef ) with the forum updates. Most everything still works, just have to get used to the changes . GREGG, thanks for trying to make things better for us (Even the whinners ).
Peter Lombardo Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Maybe I am crazy, or just lucky, but I have not seen any issues with the new system. My viewing of the pictures has been "normal", all are the same size they have been all along. I am running, at home, an AMD processor with Windows XP Professional, and at work a laptop with an Intel processor running Windows Vista. Both are using Internet Explorer and both systems are experiencing absolutely flawless operation. I am also using the "Tech" skin, which I find very pleasing on my old eyes. All in all, I really like the changes, which are inevitable with computer software these days. Everything is being updated as the systems (hardware)and operating systems (software) continue to evolve and improve. I only question the lack of advanced notice (did I miss an advance warning that an update was coming?)but other than that, I like the changes...even the heading with the 49 Mercury by Harry looks much better.

GREGG, thanks for trying to make things better for us (Even the whinners ). Okay this is what I have kind of found out about all these issues, others. There are KNOWN issues with IP Boards. Some issues can be fixed with different or updated dll files, some you just live with if you want to use the product. Some can be partially fixed by updating your browser, whatever you are using. Apperently when it comes right down to it Firefox doesn't have anything over IE or vis-versa when it comes to these issue. Some issues stem from by passing certian Service Pack updates or not ever getting them. Apperently there is something is SP2 that is important to making it all work better if you are using XP. According to IP Boards most are so small and insignificant that they are not intersted in addressing. They said they were basically W3C compliant were not going to sort out every issue that comes up with XY or Z browser or any of the many versions or updates of those browsers. There are some underlying issues that could cause instablitity and or brower conflicts (including skins) So somethings are just not getting fix, plus they are already writing 3.1 so they are not going to go back and rewrite a whole bunch of 3.0. It's good enough it works, I guess. It's just not a solid product, or so it seems.

Yeah, pretty much me too. I have tried FF and IE different versions of IE, on different puters and got pretty much all the same results. It works for the most part, however there are some enternal workings that could cause instablity in your browswer. It may never show up or maybe it will it's just something lurking out that could potentially be a problem.
James Flowers Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 If you run XP you need to update to SP2 service pack.
CAL Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 If you run XP you need to update to SP2 service pack. What if you have a XP with SP3 included? Not that I think it makes a difference. I have checked a machine with XP home that progress SP1 SP2 and is current with SP3, and another machine that was XP + SP3 all in one disk. I have not found any differences so far. The errors and code breaks are exactly the same. I have also gone to other IP boards and found the same kind of issues going back to 2.2, 2.4 and other 3.0 boards. It is an IP Board issue.

All I know is that I had to update awhile back to SP2. I do not seem to have any problems with the new board and that is what I run.
