Can't wait for revell to make the hardtop for 5 months and then never reissue it again like they done for years now.

Having management that hasn't decided to bork a good chunk of the wholesale distribution chain will help that immensely. Quantum Capital Partners is definitely proving to be no Hobbico even at this early stage.

Ian, your Hardtop is coming.

Best to save up and start planning to buy a case.

:)

Is someone making a hardtop ?

Bad news:  that drip rail looks awfully flat.  Didn't wanna stir anything up with that preview from months back, and now it looks like it's going to production.

Good news: the "meat" right above it seems to follow a better curve, so if it bothers you, all you gotta do is Dremel and file a line that follows the roof contour closer, then stitch in a little Plastruct strip to remake the rail.  Even if you take it painstakingly slow, prob'ly done in under 2 hours.

And if it doesn't bother you, then hey, not a problem, right?

It appears to me that the rear bumper and tail lamp lenses are 3-D printed (?)

Yes, I realise that it's a test shot; and, no, I'm not knocking anything -- just an observation is all.

Nice conversion on the roof! Where did you get those wheels? Very nice modern upgrade.

It bothers me too.  I know some people don’t care, but I can find huge multi-page threads talking about minor engine details or wrong seat patterns/interior parts on other kits to the brink of exhaustion.

If it was just the flat upper window side rail we had the fix, that wouldn’t be too bad.  However, the front wheel wells are super elongated in shape compared to the real car (or even the Johan kit) so those would need to be fixed as well.

Comes to that, Michael, everything below the beltline is a bit flattened, pancaked and "diecasty" - I was just being a little selective in the battles. 🙂

We've been cautioned that the worst thing we can do is use another kit as reference to determine accuracy, a premise I'd call a pretty fragrant bovine dump. Fact is, if the reference kit is more accurate, you can certainly use it for comparison.  As you observe, the Jo-Han '70 coupe shows exactly where Revell goes astray in proportions.

Similar deal in Revell's latest hardtop conversion of a late '70s T-top F-car, the drip rail is all wrong.  Revell's "eyeball" team is constantly bumbling it - good thing they're leaning harder on their "LIDAR" team these days.  The '71 Mustang shows just how brilliant those kits can be.

I always thought something was off on the looks of this kit but couldn’t put my finger on it but now that someone has pointed it out I can’t unsee it

I guess it’s hit or miss with Revell.  The ‘80’s Hurst Olds Cutlass/442 was very well done.  One of my favorites!
