69_charger Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 hey. i was wondering about all this resin stuff, and what its all about. so, can i like, get a shelby gt 500 body, for a 1970 chassis or frame from a dodge? ( i mean, like is that sorta the idea), or is it more like something when you get a body, then savlave an intirior tub from the parts box, and make your own chassis? thanks for shedding some light on this.
george 53 Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Brett, I THINK your kinda confused all right. First, Resin casters, USUALLY cast WHOLE Trans-Kits, or, like a body with most parts to complete a kit, useing ANOTHER model kit for finishing it. Some, like Modelhaus, or Motor City Resins, cast WHOLE kits of NOT produced models, that can be assembled right from their kit alone, then, some casters just cast PARTS that you can use to add on to YOUR model kit. Resin casters come in all shapes and sizes. Modelhaus does all three, Motor City just sells whole kits, and Ma's resins sells PARTS. The best way to find out who does what is to just find their websites an check them out. There's ALOT of QUALITY casters out there, quite a few of them ARE our forum brothers. Just ask around, cause there's some crummy ones out there too! Hope this DOESN'T get you even more confused!!!

SoCalCarCulture Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Brett Go to their websites and look at what they offer, this will give you a better understanding of the various parts offered. They range from complete kits to specific parts. Check out my Aftermarket Resources page for links!

You do have a lot of bad links of web sites that "no longer exist" and one set off my Virus warning (SSB Resins). Thanks Again, Tom
charlie8575 Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 SSB set off my AVG, too. It's called an "exploit link" but I have no idea what that is. That guy has some neat stuff. Too bad his site is all screwed up. Charlie Larkin
