Mark Brown Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 The Tamiya site says it's not for plastic, but I thought I'd check here and see if anyone has tried it. I picked up a couple cans at my LHS last week and they make quite a few colors that aren't in the regular paint line, including Translucent Silver and Semigloss Silver Anodized Aluminum. Has anyone tried this stuff? What happens when it's sprayed on plastic? If it's not useful on plastic, how about resin or metals? Anyone here got any experience with this RC paint?
weasel Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 just use a primer, PlastiCote comes to mind... automotive paints aren't 'designed' for plastic either, but...
Joe Handley Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Definately use a good primer, the Lexan lacquer paints tend to be fairly aggressive so they can etch into the plastic and hold when the body gets hammered while the vehicle is driving, which can be bad for "our" plastics. I've never used that line of paints on lexan though, so I don't know how they shoot off hand.
