Here is my current project. So far i've scratchbuilt chassis and front suspension. Rearaxle and suspension are from some truck. And so are the wheels and tyres.

And here is the a mockup of the project. That's 1:24 Tamiya mechanic wondering how long the hot rod is. Car itself is a mix of 1:25 and 1:24 parts.

AMT Allison V12 sitting at the front. And truck gearbox.

Yes. It is a Heller Mercedes. It was in bad shape when I got it, with other junk. Two halfs were glued, but needed a lot of sanding and filling.

You have some real interesting stuff going on there! Can you explain about the metal joints the suspension is attached with? I would like to build like that. Good stuff... keep going!

Suspension is held together with "head pins". That how they are labeled. They are 0,8 mm thick, and I found them in jewelry section in hobby shop.

whouw thats stunning !!!!!!!!!!!!!! and cool !!

one thing i wondered if you would make the front chassis a tad shorter so like the engine is just in front of the cab and then the grille before that .. maybe proportion wise it would be perfect then ..

just a thought .. loving this :)

I may be mistaken but I believe Jay Leno built a real street rod similar to this..

jays car was actually built by blastolene garage. and that one uses a twin turbo v16 orv12 patton tank engine. i believe
