Here is a kit that I have started about 15 years ago and is pretty much complete other than the body needs to be painted. It is a Super Comp Altered kit that started out with a Top Fuel Funny car kit and I had purchased a resin body for the project. Was thinking that I need to figure out a paint scheme that I want to go with and paint it once I finish a couple projects that I am Currently working on. Here are some pics of it....

Very cool! It is nice to see someone who knows their subjects building the less well known types of drag cars. The slicks which are too small for Fuel cars look just right for gasoline cars!

Thanks Modelmartin, my love from drag racing came from growing up around it. I have a few other ideas on some less well known drag cars. I have had an idea of doing a Super Comp Dragster which I got as far as getting the frame scratch built. I actually pulled that kit out yesterday to take a look at it and decided that I am going redo another scrach built frame for it cause I wasn't happy with they way it turned out, this one which was done probably 13+ years ago. So in the near future you will probably see me posting pics of that build.

Thanks guys for all the nice comments.

Hey Smart-Resins.....I have a couple ideas on the colors for the body. I just haven't been able to figure out how I would like to do the graphics. I think I may have to google some images of Altereds to get some ideas. Mind if I ask what is trackburners??

I like this Chris, don't know if I recall seeing it but it is screaming for some Candy on that body!!! Make it pop you know, lay out a nice base with some flake over the base, then the candy!!! Would get some attention for sure

You really should get this done, it looks great.

Do you have any paint/Sponsor ideas?

Bob

Bob thanks for the compliments. I have no ideas on the sponsors for it. I was thinking of looking at some decals from Slixx and picking up some "Mom & Pops" and then some general sponsors to put on it. Paint Ideas I have been thinking of metallic blue...kind of like whats on Subaru WRX's with some graphics...yellow, red...etc... Since I have pulled that kit back out when i took the pics, it made me want to finish and paint it, which I will after I finish my Wagon and rat Rod I got going on. All I need to do is wet sand the body and it will be ready for paint.

Well after about a year of posting this on here. I finaly got around to painting the body today. I sprayed it with PPG base coat/Clear coat and the color is off the Subaru WRX STi's. Was very excited to get this painted and cleared. Happy with how it turned out. Now I just need to put decals on it and then clear it again and will officially be done ;)

Here are pics of the painting process:

very cool color. I love altereds, My brother and I raced one in the 80's.

Jim that is awesome that you and your brother used to race one. I have always wanted to get my Super Comp License. I found this body at a swap meet at the NNL West in Santa Clara years ago and thought it would be cool to do something a little different. I could not tell or even remember who made this body.
