Car Crazy 81 Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Can anyone help me out on this one! Where can i find this set of slotted wheels in scale.
Casey Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 In my opinion, the 5-slot wheels which come in the Monogram '66 Malibu SS "Street Rat" kit are the best, like so: The kit:

Guest Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Arii had a very nice set with big and little incredible BF Goodrich Radial TA tires, if you can find them.
VW Dave Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 (edited) Arii had a very nice set with big and little incredible BF Goodrich Radial TA tires, if you can find them. Those Arii sets are cool and probably have the nicest set of BFG's ever made, but I agree with Dave Z; those wheels look more like the stamped steel slots than the cast ones, due to a lack of depth in the edges of the holes. I have to say the wheels that look the most like the ones on the movie Duster are the ones that came in the old MPC(and recently reissued) 'Smokey the Convoy Chaser' Dart Sport: Some silver paint and a shot of DullCote, and voila!! Ansen Sprints. Edited February 19, 2010 by VW Dave
VW Dave Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 (edited) Those are nice for sure, but the holes are much too 'square' for the application. They look similar to the Willys ones you already posted, which more closely resemble Halibrands than Ansens. I took a look at Comp Resins' site, and their Fenton front wheels would do quite well for the application: Edited February 19, 2010 by VW Dave

If you don't want to buy the kit, there's at least one resin caster who offers them. (Cool! VW Dave just provided an answer for us) Ask the Alclad II enthusiasts on here for pics of items painted in "chrome" or "polished aluminum" and go from there. Edited February 19, 2010 by Monty
walt francis Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 The 41 street rod set is quite nice.... Is that the willys or the Plymouth ? They look great.
dwc43 Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 http://www.scalemodelingbychris.com/smbc_partsp2.htm Scale Modeling by Chris has these. They look really good. I've used them on a couple of models now. Here's what the fronts look like. I'm actually using them as rears for this one. I used the rears with steels on another model that required it.
VW Dave Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Scale Modeling by Chris has these. They look really good. They do look good, but again the holes are more square than those on the movie car pictured above.
MikeMc Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Walt, that is the 41 Willys street rod kit wheels, with a shot of dullkote on them.
