Karmodeler2 Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 HEY GUYS I WANTED TO START A THREAD TO help you guys do REALISTIC FLAMES on your models. I took SEVERAL AWARDS, HAVING PAID MY DUES AND want to help as many as I CAN SINCE SHARING IS SO IMPORTANT : YOU WILL NEED some hard to find items that you will be able to FIND WITH SOME RESEARCH ON YOUR PART : KEEP IN MIND THAT YOU CAN ONLY do the final coat on the day of the show. The pic I have enclosed was a test of the FINAL COAT AND I WAS NOT READY TO GO TO THE SHOW YET SO DO YOUR HOMEWORK SO you don't have to enter in the promer class!!! David
diymirage Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 thank you soo much for this tutorial David i have only one question....does this work on cars with a real leather interior ?
Jordan White Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Does it stick to water-based chrome substitutes, especially if they are are factory produced parts?
TimKustom Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 My buddy Tommy May tried this technique once. Just remember, the model is the TRUE trophy...
sjordan2 Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Judging from the leather "tutorial,"looks like we've got a lot of winter cabin fever going on here. Everyone take a deep breath and say, "I will not post after drinking, I will not post after drinking, I will not post after drinking." Same goes for visiting eBay and amazon.com.
Karmodeler2 Posted February 26, 2010 Author Posted February 26, 2010 I WANTED TO START A THREAD TO help you guys do REALISTIC FLAMES on your models. You stole my picture off the internet, you common thief!!! HERE is the tutorial!!!! Seriously...where did you find these? They're from an April 1 Fotki album I did years ago!!!!! ALTHOUGH YOU MAY HAVE STARTED A thread like MINE, it is MY TECHNIQUE THAT MAKES MINE SUPERIOR AND although yoUR PICS ARE SIMILAR, I DID IT FIRST
Jeff Sauber Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Something tells me that the Treehugger-Dave isn't going to approve this thread....... But then again, trees and fire don't usually go well together.
Jordan White Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Something tells me that the Treehugger-Dave isn't going to approve this thread....... But then again, trees and fire don't usually go well together. Neither does plastic and fire!
Scale-Master Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 I would like to see the application device you invented to apply this media. Did you invent the match, or just fire in general? How long does it take to dry? Do you need a special respirator? Did you invent one? How did you do the chrome on the wheel? It looks smoother than your grandmother’s trailer hitch ball. No gravel at all that I can see. You David’s sure know how to do tutorials!
Jeff Sauber Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Neither does plastic and fire! True, but I'd rather smell burning wood rather than melting plastic. I knew all this leather interior jibberish would end up in flames....

Sorry Scalemister, but I CAN'T GIVE ALL my secrets because SOME THINGS YOU HAVE TO RESEARCH YOURSELF  I did use a system that I invented and the matches have a SPECIAL white tip system that I Machined on MY LATHE using C4 (availbale at my local hardware store) why don't you look at the pics before you start bashing me on how I do something?
Jordan White Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 (edited) Hey guys look, I found some chrome gravel! Edited February 26, 2010 by YJIslander
Karmodeler2 Posted February 26, 2010 Author Posted February 26, 2010 thank you soo much for this tutorial David i have only one question....does this work on cars with a real leather interior ? Actually work more better with real leather...especially the smells!!! I WON MOST REALISTIC FLAMES WITH AFTER SMELLS AT THE WINTER NATIONALS IN 1948 IF YOU guys keep asking me QUESTIONS AND ALL, I'M GONNA LEAVE SEEMS WE HAVE some haters showing up AND I'M NOT YELLING
sjordan2 Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 This message is brought to you from the unwatchable film, "The Antichrist," as a fox devouring its own flesh snarls at William Dafoe: "Chaos reigns!"
crazyjim Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 I can't believe how bad you guys are!!! Is this why I love it here so much? Oh well. Too bad. So Sad. I have to turn off the computer soon. Did my 1.5 mile walk, sitting herre drinking my 1st Jim Beam & RC. It's time to go outside for a butt and then heat up the oven for pizza. Then it's popcorn and WWE!! Yeah baby. Tomorrow is a golf outing fundraiser so I probably won't get on the computer until mid-afternoon - I can't wait to read what you guys come up with next.
Modelmartin Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 oK, KARMADEALER2 AND scaly-MasTur!!! IHVE HAD JUST ABOUT enuff of this flame war ABOUT FLAMES!!! Go to your ROOMs!
sjordan2 Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Everybody. Just step away from the keyboard and nobody gets hurt.
Jordan White Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Everybody. Just step away from the keyboard and nobody gets hurt. What about those of us sitting down? Should we roll away from the keyboard?
Karmodeler2 Posted February 26, 2010 Author Posted February 26, 2010 What about those of us sitting down? Should we roll away from the keyboard? Only if you have developed a system, unique to your style, that you can use to roll away. Otherwise, you may need to search for a topic about rolling away or start a new topic on how you developed a method (that you are willing to share) on rolling away. David (Morton....not Susan)
Jordan White Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 OK, couple things....First, are you now claiming to have invented the wheel? Second, I'm getting tired of you claiming to be the greatest second baseman to ever play the game. Finally, is it true that you once bought drugs from the man who killed your aunt? Also, did you truly build this city on rock and roll?
Chas SCR Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 I really want to see a siminar at the GSL on a how to on this can you do this for us? Or do we have to pay to learn how to put the gas on the hood of a model and light it up!

I will see if Gustavson will let me do another paint seminar and just for you, I will include the realistic flame section for you.
Harry P. Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 This thread is freaking HILARIOUS! Who knew we had so many funny guys here? I haven't laughed so much in a long time, these posts are something else. But... (you knew that was coming)... I think it's time to cool it. We all made our points (some of you very well, I might add!), but it's getting a little "uncomfortable" for me. We're all family here, and we shouldn't get our kicks at the expense of one of our own... know what I mean? I know there was no harm meant by anyone, and like I said, some of you guys are too funny! But really... time to quit. I don't want to be "Mr. Moderator Guy," so no locking. I'll leave it to the rest of you to use common sense...
