Tom Kren Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 I see on the news there was a quake in Hawaii.
Jon Cole Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 (edited) I just read that there was a massive 8.8 quake in Chile, that is far more severe in magnatude than Haiti experienced. Also, Tsunami warning issued for all islands of Hawaii. Hope it is a false alarm for the islands. Edited February 27, 2010 by Spyder

Thanks for concerns
Tom Kren Posted February 27, 2010 Author Posted February 27, 2010 (edited) I see on the news there was a quake in Hawaii. sorry that should be Chili not Hawaii and glad to see your all safe and ok! Edited February 27, 2010 by Tom Kren
Harry P. Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 sorry that should be Chili not Hawaii... Chile. Mario Lucchini is in Chile, hope he is ok. I think he's in Santiago, supposedly the city got hit pretty hard.
Jon Cole Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 MS/NBC is reporting that offshore bouys are detecting a tsunami wave. Only 2 feet high out in the open ocean, but as the wave closes inland, the height rises as the ocean floor slopes upward to meet the coastline. This also is not an event exclusive to Hawaii, but affects the entire Pacific basin. Hawaii could be in jepordy around 4:00 PM EST.

Art Anderson Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Watching FoxNews right now, tsunami is expected to hit Hawaii in about 15 minutes or so--hope people near the shoreline are heeding the warning! Just checked on a website for a 16yr old California girl who is attempting a solo non-stop circumnavigation of the World, and is about 1500 miles off the coast of northern Chile. Her team onshore says that she is OK, likely not even experiencing a noticeable swell in the deep South Pacific Ocean. But, I am thinking about the people in Chile, prayers going up for their safety in all this. Art
