Raul_Perez Posted May 2, 2010 Author Posted May 2, 2010 wow Raul, that looks 1,000 times better with the lower panel added. Yeah...it's a nice looking frame, but I only want to see it when I'm looking at the bottom of the model. Please have someone resin copy... each post is more amazimg than the last. great job! Thanks! I'm not sure that these mods are worth making a resin copy of. They were actually pretty simple. The one I wish I would have gotten a resin copy of was my '57 Z06 Chevy pickup. I put a lot of work into that body. Later,

Raul_Perez Posted May 2, 2010 Author Posted May 2, 2010 ShowOff... What can I say...it's still one of my favorites...
Jeff Sauber Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 I finally got time to add a bit of material to the bottom edge of the rear panel and the rear fenders. I also filled in the slot on the rear door for the license plate. I will probably put the plate on the newly extended lower panel. I added it because I didn't like the way the frame was exposed in the rear and the slight misalignment between the rear panel and the rear fenders. I also changed the exhaust tips from those oversized coffee can things that came in the kit to some polished aluminum tubing. Well, it's about time to start painting the wood grain panels and the interior. Later, The aluminum tips look much better and less disruptive to the rest of the build. This project is comming along very nicely. Looking forward to more updates.
Raul_Perez Posted May 3, 2010 Author Posted May 3, 2010 I wish I had just one ounce of skill in my whole body that you do in your little finger Yeah...I can fix the bodies when they get hit...but you can fix the mechanical stuff when they break down... The aluminum tips look much better and less disruptive to the rest of the build. This project is comming along very nicely. Looking forward to more updates. Thanks, Jeff!! Yeah, those coffee can things that came in the kit are a bit much. The small pieces of tubing are much less distracting. In Jarius' original design, there are no tips showing. Later,
Raul_Perez Posted May 4, 2010 Author Posted May 4, 2010 Looking good, Mr Detail... Thanks, Alyn!! So true, so very true I need some lessons in body work. Sure...maybe in early June we can setup a Saturday or a Sunday to swap ideas and trade secrets...until then I've got Mother's Day coming up, a house to rent, an ailing grandfather...and a whole bunch of other stuff to deal with... Later,
Raul_Perez Posted May 16, 2010 Author Posted May 16, 2010 OK...this time I'm really done with the body mods...it's prime time for this beast!! I added a bit more material to the lower leading edges of the rear fenders to help the visual alignment between the altered running boards and the rear splash pan that I extended. BEFORE: AFTER: The rear of the frame, (and the exhaust tips), will actually sit higher up into the body when tthe frame is glued to the body. Well, it's finally time for some primer, a little putty to smooth over the mods and paint!! Later,
Raul_Perez Posted May 17, 2010 Author Posted May 17, 2010 How was the show, Donnie? Did you win any awards? Later,
Raul_Perez Posted May 17, 2010 Author Posted May 17, 2010 Took home Best Rat Rod Again, this time with the circa 1955 Roadster Good job, Donnie!! Who won Best of Show and with what model? the wagon looks killer raul Thanks, Kevin! How are you doing in school?
Raul_Perez Posted June 1, 2010 Author Posted June 1, 2010 (edited) First, the color on the fenders of the Wagon Rod is only a base color. I use leftover colors, (that are close to the actual color), to see how well the body work is done. It was also good enough for a few pics with the wood grain. The body color will be Testors spray can Honduras Maroon lacquer, the same color that I used on my '58 Impala. The interior for the Wagon Rod will also be the same tan color that's in the Impala. I won't clear the woodie portion until the body color gets sprayed on. It's much easier to touch up any of the wood grain while it's still in flat colors if I need to adjust or fix anything after the body color gets sprayed on. Well...that's it for now... Bernard Kron Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Starting to take on its final appearance. The wood looks good... I kinda like the two-tone creme and red combo the way it is now but that's just me. Looking forwad to more, more, more!!!!

Oops...I forgot to mention that the cream color was the base coat for the light colored wood. All of the sheetmetal parts will be the Honduras Maroon color... Although...the cream colored body would probably look good with black fenders... Edited June 1, 2010 by Raul_Perez
curt raitz Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 A little "woodie" know and then is not a bad thing coming along quite nicely...will we be seein' it this weekend (Goodguys in Pleasanton)?
Raul_Perez Posted June 1, 2010 Author Posted June 1, 2010 A little "woodie" now and then is not a bad thing coming along quite nicely...will we be seein' it this weekend (Goodguys in Pleasanton)? Yeah...even at our age it's good to get a little wood every now and then... No...I won't be able to make it to the Goodguys show this weekend. Saturday I've got to get the 2000 Grand Prix ready to sell and we're having a 90th birthday party for my grandfather on Sunday. And I thought that once the kids moved out of the house that I'd more time to work on models...so much for that plan... Later,
Clay Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 You two need to be careful with that wood, don't want to have all your blood rushing out of your heart. Great job so far Raul, there is still room next to the Avanti
