outlaw035 Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 hi everyone...this is a replica of the 55 chevy i drove in HS in 1965-67...its almost exact except for the grille...the grille was damaged when my dad gave me the car be4 i had it painted so i removed the grille just leaving the chrome trim ring...i tried to duplicate this but was unsuccessful twice...the engine is a 283 with a 65 or 66 air cleaner cant remember... the interior is from a 63 chevy SS...had radar wheels on the front couldnt afford the rear...lol....paint was nassua blue with a black painted top...

Sixties Sam Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Nice replica! It's cool to have models of cars you once owned. That 55 was nice. In high school I drove my mom's 62 Mercury Meteor 4 door sedan. Boring! For that grille ring: I wonder if you could make a wood form shaped like the grille, and wrap some soft craft wire around it to make a frame. I have used some 18 gauge (.043") that looks like chrome for some things in the past. Then glue the wire frame to the car. Just a thought. Sam
