plasticfrog Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 (edited) Believe it or not this truck took about 3 years to build...I always wanted to build a 67 chevy truck s/b but this kit is very hard to find so I went to ebay and found some on there but a good clean kit was going for $100 to high for me so that was in Oct.06.June 07 I got my break got one off ebay for $41 bucks but was painted several times as soon as I got it I soaked it in purple stuff as always you buy off ebay it comes worst shape then you thought.I used several kits amt 1960 chevy truck chassis, amt 84 gmc fender firewalls,55 chevy truck motor.and a old promo 61 chevy truck wood bed.Reason I say its cursed cuz its been painted about 20 times by me cuz the paint would never come out good always rough or bubbles it would always show where i cut the bed down this truck had some glue marks that took for ever to fill . Couple times I threw it back in the box and took a break from it at times I would look to find another kit to start fresh but big $$$ to do that.So over time of 2008 I slowly worked on it still had the same problems in march 09 I wanted to take it to STL,MO. model car contest in Oct.09.So i stripped it all down started fresh I used different putty and I went cheap with paint...at wal-mart (Krylon) spray paint.I got this truck looking good the chassis was completed motor wired, plumb and I BMF it and I cleared it...I dont know what went wrong but the clear paint destroyed it So I stripped it again and didnt use the clear on it but waxed it.....it took 2nd place Edited March 7, 2010 by plasticfrog
tuffone20 Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Wow you did good with this one!! It might have given you lots of problems but you got through it and the truck looks awesome and you got 2nd place with it too!! I like what you did with it! I have a '67 tow truck that I built as a kid that I'm rebuilding.
plasticfrog Posted March 7, 2010 Author Posted March 7, 2010 Thanks guys....I got more skills with paint now after this build
Guest Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Nice looking truck, how about some engine, chassis and interior shots?
gilsdropshop1 Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 great job with this 67, this is my favorite body style 67-72 i built one last year from a stepside kit and ordered a resin shortbed for it, lowered the stance put big-n-little chrome t's wired the engine and put some details in the cab and this is what i came up with!
Railfreak78 Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I like it Jason great job of showing patience. It came out sharp. I used to have a 72 Long bed with a 402 big block. I miss that thing but not the gas milage

[ You did a great job the wheels look good on this I almost bought the resin bed but it didnt have the chrome trim on it so thats why I cut it down. Edited March 9, 2010 by plasticfrog
rustybill1960 Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Well "P-froggy" Even with your "bumps" with finishing the build it looks well worth the 2nd place, in fact it looks worthy of a first! I like it and your efforts Thank you for sharing Man! later Russ
camaroman Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Very nice... Kinda makes me wonder why Revell doesn't pop a kit of these. They are one of the most popular 1:1 trucks.

Modlbldr Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Jason- For all of the problems that you stated, it sure doesn't show in those pictures. I, too, wish that they would kit up some of these Chevy, Ford and Dodge pickups from the 60's and 70's. They would be popular sellers. Later-
