cruz Posted March 17, 2010 Author Posted March 17, 2010 I have been playing with some spare tires I had laying around, can't promise these will ultimately be the ones to add to the kit though. I am still waiting on Norm from Replicas and Miniatures to show me the ones he has and I will make my decision. In the meantime, I painted the Good Year logo with Tamiya white paint and also added the gold color on the rims. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki I still have to add the wheel from behind if I decide to use these, this will place the rim in a more proper and tight position instead of just dangling there....
meaneyme Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 You are a BMF master my friend, love the way you always place it around the wheel wells. The white and gold just looks amazing and makes this thing pop. Did you clear the decals? They look so smooth!

Once I am done with the polishing, I place the decals and then finish off everything with a nice waxing job!!!
Guest Mustang3.8 Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 (edited) Great job, Marcus. My Olds is almost done. I'd be honoured to have my Olds parked next to your beauty. Edited March 17, 2010 by Mustang3.8

They look so smooth that it looks like part of the painted body.
Dr. Cranky Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 BE-AU-TI-FUL! Wonderful job so far, amigo. Keep it going!
rustybill1960 Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 I cannot help but echo everyone else here, but, "Awesome,Truly,Awesome Man!" What wax do you use after the decals go down? Thank You for sharing! Later Russ

gilsdropshop1 Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 Awsome build Mr. Cruz just simply cleannnnnnn
shucky Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 Stunning so far! The body is beautiful! Cant wait to see more.
cotto Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Wow Cruz, your work is always amazing my friend, truly inspiring. Your paint jobs are always so smooth and all the details on the panel lines and Bare Metal Foil are really exquisite. How the heck you get that BMF around those wheel wells so nice, I will never know but please, keep us posted on this thing, I want to see the whole build before I attempt to start on mine.
Karmodeler2 Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Hey Marcos, Nice attention to detail. I like the way you have trimmed you decals so close, that they are like the real car. You can see the door lines (which you have darkened and they look good) and the crisp end of the decal going into the door jamb area. Nice attention to detail. It's builds like these that stand out on the table. Very nice work. David
cruz Posted March 28, 2010 Author Posted March 28, 2010 Thanks for the compliments fellas!!! Did a bit more work and completed most of the engine, there will be more parts added once in the engine bay. For now, just gave it a black wash to give it kind of a used look. stangman Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Marcos, This car is looking great so far. The enigine lloks like it has been used for about 5 or 6 years. The body looks like ti just left the showroom floor.
cotto Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Engine looks great Cruz. Are you adding a bracket for the floating alternator? I didn't see one in the kit.
cruz Posted March 30, 2010 Author Posted March 30, 2010 Yes Jay, last night I had to fabricate one, thought I had some P/E ones laying around but never found one. I have installed the engine on the chassis already, I will post pictures later.
george 53 Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Marcos, this build is comin out KILLER!!! I REALLY like the way the wheels came out, that gold just kicks it!!! I look forward to seein it finished!!! You GO Brother!!!!
cruz Posted April 6, 2010 Author Posted April 6, 2010 I am almost done with the chassis, I have incorporated several shades of metallic paints for a little contrast and a more realistic overall look. The differential cover was Alcladed and a black wash was also added. I decided to carefully remove the oil filter on the engine, there was a very noticeable mold line on it so I decided to eliminate it and repaint it. You will notice this if you see the previous pictures. Additionally, I fabricated a bracket from the generator to the engine since it was just hanging in mid air. cruz Posted April 6, 2010 Author Posted April 6, 2010 There is a small detail on the rear lights of the 1/1 Hurst Olds that I wanted to simulate on the kit, I managed to do this with a sharpie, I think it will look pretty good once installed!! Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki I also started on the interior floor, I like using embossing powders to simulate the carpeting. Hosted on Fotki
MrObsessive Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Lookin' real sharp as usual Cruz!! Now lets see you replicate that up top!
rustybill1960 Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Nice tip on the Sharpie Man! Sweet building as ever! Thank You for sharing Later Russ
