Dr. Cranky Posted March 17, 2010 Author Posted March 17, 2010 Thanks, everyone, for the on-going support . . . here's some progress, finally. Got both engines underway . . . using metalizer paints and the usual watch parts, etc . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted March 17, 2010 Author Posted March 17, 2010 Here are some shots of the chassis . . . I know, I know, I got lazy and didn't sand off the lettering . . . LOL!
Guest Mustang3.8 Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 Those Mercs look awesome, Cranky. Love the paint.
Dr. Cranky Posted March 17, 2010 Author Posted March 17, 2010 Here are a few more . . . Here are some pics of the interior in progress . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted March 17, 2010 Author Posted March 17, 2010 Here are overhead shots of the interior . . . I am hoping the white and the silver will really look bright once the body goes on . . .
oldscool Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Those engines look great! I like the watch gears on the pulleys and the upholstery. And I didn't sand the letters off of mine either. oldscool
Janne Herajärvi Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Those look fantastic! Keep up great work!
Dr. Cranky Posted March 18, 2010 Author Posted March 18, 2010 Both interiors and chassis are done now . . .
Joker Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 WOW!!!!!are these prototype vehicles for a remake of BLADE RUNNER.....James
Foxer Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 I find the watch parts and interior decor most interesting. The paint should be in a museum.
Dr. Cranky Posted March 18, 2010 Author Posted March 18, 2010 Here is one of the beasts . . . I still have to fix and add a few more things, but I wanted to see what it was going to look like already assembled . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted March 18, 2010 Author Posted March 18, 2010 Here are a few more with the hood . . .
Gary Davis Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Man oh Man.....Cranky....These two Mercs are off the Hook! I've been lookie lou'n from the start of this build and man....you've put a smile on my face every time I look in. Great Job on the paint and the WHOLE build, or should I saw BUILDS
Dr. Cranky Posted March 18, 2010 Author Posted March 18, 2010 Thanks, Gary. I am working on getting the second one done so that I can do final detailing . . . stay tuned in.
Dr. Cranky Posted March 18, 2010 Author Posted March 18, 2010 I had to adjust the wheel base on the second one so that everything would fit, but it means it's slowed down the progress. Stay tuned in for more progress later in the day.
Ryan S. Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 These are truly incredible and true works of art. Great builds Cranky. I'm amazed at how quickly you build!
cruz Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 (edited) Virgil, with talent like yours, I always ask myself, why the heck am I building for???? These are some great painting and building lessons!!!! Will you ever make it to our NNL East some time? Would love to meet you bro!!!!! Edited March 18, 2010 by marcos cruz
Raul_Perez Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Cool stuff, Virgil!! What paint did you use for the bumpers? Later,
Dr. Cranky Posted March 18, 2010 Author Posted March 18, 2010 Marcos, one of these fine days I will return to the NNL East. I loved it the first time I went. Next time I go I will bring a whole bunch of stuff to display. Thanks for all the comments. I'm back on track finishing both Mercs . . . stay tuned in for pics . ..
Dr. Cranky Posted March 19, 2010 Author Posted March 19, 2010 Oh what a pair! LOL! You can guess where some of the paint chipped off around the back windshield, right? You can't tell here, but if you saw these two in sunlight, they'd be ablaze with flake sparkle!
Dr. Cranky Posted March 19, 2010 Author Posted March 19, 2010 Here are a couple of more . . . these look bathed in maple syrup! The fenders were stripped of their chrome and then reshot in metalizer paints. I've built about a dozen 49 Mercs since it came out almost two years ago, and I think after the next dozen I should be familiar with all the kit's kinks and qwerks.
jevries Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 That's ART! I really like all the creativity that went into these models making it one of a kind creations.
Dr. Cranky Posted March 19, 2010 Author Posted March 19, 2010 Thank you, they were both fun to build, and I am glad I didn't ruin one or both along the way.
