Murphy Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Hello to one and all,my name is John, but you can feel free to call me Murphy. I've been lurking here for a while and thought that it was about time to make myself known. I've been reading "Model Cars" since it was "Plastic Fanatic" as well as any other mag I can get my hands on. I've been building for about 15 years (this time around) and am into 50's to 60's style Hot Rods, Customs and Drag Racers, and have un unbuilt collection of about 200. I am active on other forums, but I appreciate the less formal approach here. I posted some of my builds in the gallery, I hope they kinda show you guys what I'm about. Thanks to Greg for creating this place, I'll be talking with you. ~Murphy ( John Seffl)
Guest Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Hey murphy, welcome from another Minnesotan. Where abouts are you? I'm going to correct you on soemthing, cause Gregg will anyway, Plastic Fanatic didnt become MCM, he still owns PF. MCM is a stand alone magazine. Glad you are here, and look forward to seeing your work.
Murphy Posted April 16, 2010 Author Posted April 16, 2010 Hi Lee, glad to meet you...I'm located in Lake Elmo, just east of the TC. Thanks for the clarification on PF/MC mags, I didn't know that, but, that's one of the things I'm here for, education!
george 53 Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Welcome Murph! There's alot to learn no matter HOW long you've been at it! I been doin it for 50 YEARS,and I STILL learn new tricks!! Just join in the conversations, give advice if ya want, an be a part of the gang! Most everybody'e cool!
Lyle Willits Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 I'm going to correct you on soemthing, cause Gregg will anyway, Plastic Fanatic didnt become MCM, he still owns PF. MCM is a stand alone magazine. I'm going to correct your correction. Plastic Fanatic magazine most certainly did become Model Cars Magazine. They were both "stand alone" magazines, whatever that means. The last issue of P.F. was August 1999. The first issue of MCM was October, 1999. When you say "he still owns PF", are you referring to Gregg or Roy Sorenson? The important thing is, wherever it came from, it's a great magazine.
crispy Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Hi Murphy! From another Minnesotan. It seems we're really coming out of the woodwork here. I live near Mankato, in Lake Crystal, about 15 miles west of there anyway. Do you belong to any of the clubs up there? Welcome! Chris
Jordan White Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Yo, from yet another Minnesotan (Anoka here)!
Murphy Posted April 16, 2010 Author Posted April 16, 2010 (edited) Hello! Jordan, Lyle, Mark and Chris...no, I don't belong to any clubs, just toiling away out here in the wilderness Edited April 16, 2010 by Murphy
crazyjim Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Hiya Murphy. I'm not from MN and don't belong to any model clubs but am glad you found the best model car forum around. You can learn lots of things here, make trades for free, and get answers to many model related questions. Welcome.

Gregg Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 e komo mai, Murphy! I almost landed in your neck of the woods today, or this morning, but the flight I was supposed to be on got cancelled.
