I'm curious to this as I am a CB-er myself, I've got a few, including one in my truck, so what was or is your handle?

Mine is White lightning, why you may ask, my truck is white, and I've seen that movie about 20 times.

All you have to do is look at my screen name! I had my CB Handle evn before I started driving tractor trailer in 1998. My friends and I all had CBs in our cars and trucks in high school, and I like the NBC TV movie "The Highwayman" (which in a rerun was called "Terror on the Blacktop") where the hero drove a Mack that turned into a helicopter, so I came up with the "Highwayman" handle. Later, after I started driving truck for a local towing company and also a local warehouse distributor, my coworkers shortened it to "Highway".

Very cool, I'm not really sure what got me into CB radio's.

Back in the day, right around 1976 to 1979 I had a CB in my car, as was the "thing" to do. For the first few months, I didn't have a handle. I was listening more than talking....I just couldn't get into the "lingo". I mean, it always seemed to be a "southern" thing, more than a "Jersey" thing.

Then one day, while talking to a few co-workers the subject of CB's and handles came up. Some one asked me what my handle was and I replied that I didn't have one....at that very second, without missing a beat, my bosses secretary turned to me and said, "yes you do, its right on your front".

At that moment, I knew I needed to come up with something......my new handle "Big Petey" was born.

Burt Reynolds with original music by the one and only Jerry Reed! Sequel to Gator if I remember right....

I had a CB in my Toyota Corolla for years during my commute. Ran the wheels off that thing for 250,000 miles and tried a number of handles. "Mustang" was my fav but it never caught on with the locals. But then I didn't have much to say....

I had a CB back when you had to get an actual license, which was free from the FCC. You had to give your call sign every so often (KBBA 3477). My handle was Milwaukee Kid when I lived in California (I'm from Milwaukee) When I moved back to Wisconsin, I became California Kid.

I was living in Wisconsin at the time and was just into trucking and was also doing a little rodeo riding on the side.

At one of the rodeos the announcer dubbed me the "Wisconsin Cowboy" and it stuck! Became my CB Handle all the way up to 1997 when I had to retire from trucking!

that's a pretty cool one, my cousin goes by concrete cowboy, which is a movie the two of us grew up watching.

in another life, long long ago..........

I was known as "The Colorado Kid".

probably because I'm a native of Colorado.

My Truckin Uncle hung it on me in the seventies, and it stuck.

where did I put my old 40 channel cobra CB anyway?

The CB was a factory option on my 2007 vehicle. Bet you thought those days were over. It's a Honda Goldwing, and it's got a Honda-branded CB that has handlebar controls (standard on every Goldwing whether the CB is installed or not), and displays on the factory stereo/intercom display.

I don't really have a handle. I listen to the truckers when by myself, and talk with other motorcycles in my group. Motorcyclists are still heavy users of CB. Apparently FRS isn't supposed to be used mobile, and GMRS requires a license.

I did find a Delco AM/FM/CB/8-track in-dash stereo in the junk part of an antique shop not too long ago. It didn't have anything else, like the mic or antennae. I thought I'd never see one of those again. They were factory options in a lot of cars in the 70's.

well lets see my trailer is 32 years old, and I'm 14 years old, so yeah I'm sure, what other calculations, my truck is 18 years old, my tractor is 20 something, can't calculate it, I don't have an exact year of production.

here's me after working on my grandfathers truck, using the CB in it, he's got a Royce I've got a Cobra Classic, this is about 2 years old,

I've lost a fair amount of weight since then and have grown about 5 inches or so, I'm about 5'8'' now,it's a bit of a shame less plug for a company to,

8-TRACKS!!!!!;)

P1010820-vi.jpg

MAN, I have ALWAYS wanted that player. Anytime I see that one and the one that looks like a bowling ball or space helmet (Weltron?) it goes for HUGE bucks. Its not like a fine wine, they don't sound better with age. Be that as it may, I just like that dopey format.

Thank god someone under the age of 50 owns 8 tracks.

HA HA HA, yes Nick there are a few of us out there. Mine started out as a dumb hobby. My dad was gona pitch a player and some tapes that had broken. That was when I was about 6 years old. I'm now 30, collect and restore carts and there players. Weird how things turn out.
