Tony and Jason,

Both the SVO and that LX hatch look great. The SVO can be quite finicky when it comes time to mount the front bumper cover and the headlight/front light dress, and the Bi-Plane spoiler does not like to sit down on the 3-piece rear spoiler too well.

Jason, did you use the 1979 issues for the basis of the LX conversion?

Thanks guys, Nice job Mike, and Tony!

Brad, it's actually the 3rd 93 Cobra kit, that I converted. I kind of rushed it's conversion, so it did not turn out as nice as the first 2

But I went ahead and built it,anyway. Here are some pics of it sans paint...

And with paint ...

I would still like to flow some black into the seams, to make them pop a little better. But I am unsure what to use, for the best results...

I'd go with a darker green as black is too much of a contrast. Add some black to the paint you used maybe?? If you want to use black, find a real fine point marker, or flow some Detailer, or thinned black paint. You may need to wipe off some excess.

Thanks for the comments on the SVO guys...it did have it's moments!! Once I got the front bumper and spoiler done, it was reasonably smoooooth from there!

My new favorite thread (even though my 1:1 is SN95,not a Fox-body...I used to own a '79 Pace Car back in high school-didn't know it was a Pace'r till I wrecked it though)!

How's about a new SN95 thread/CBP,any interested?|

Emerging through a black hole from the end of the big hair decade is this '87 GT that I built in 1989. It's an MPC 1988 GT kit with a few alterations. I don't remember all of the body mods, but the partial list is fender flares, shaved handles and emblems, NACA ducts in the stock hood, deepened front spoiler and ground effects, Testarossa style side strakes, (it was 1989, alright?!) and a sliding moonroof from a Tamiya RX7 body. I hated the MPC chrome headlights, so the buckets and lenses are cut down Monogram parts. MPC didn't supply the correct flush mount 1/4 windows, so I made these from an old '80s smoke tinted rear glass from some MPC kit. Remember when they did that? I'm glad they don't any more! Seats are Monogram '85 Corvette, rest of the interior is stock but for the monster tach. Anyone recall the old Otaki BFG tire and wheel sets? Here's a set of the "Modulars" on full Monogram front and rear suspension and rear end, because the MPC stuff was too spindly looking. Paint is Testors' Model Master somethingoranother blue over aircraft gray, front screen is fine brass mesh from an automatic transmission filter. Engine is a Monogram 5.0 (So in 1:25th scale, I'm calling it a 351) with twin Paxton superchargers and dual quads. Basically, when the Otaki wheel and tire sets came out, I got all happy and built several hot rods around them, and this was one of them.

Definitely captured the '89 styling cues!! Nice survivor!

Thanks Tony, I really like your SVO too, it looks like something that RoboCop would have driven if they gave him something cooler than a Taurus.

They did give RoboCop a grey and black SN95 '94 Mustang in the TV series! Not quite what I was going for!

<Link removed> - I removed the bad links...will try to find them again...

Mike,

You did an excellent job with a not-so-excellent kit (and might I add, captured some sweet late-80s/early-90s 808 flavor too!). The MPC/AMT kit was marginal at best, and some of its' scale fidelity was seriously compromised. I love it, and welcome to the FOX homethread!

Sn95's?

How About SN90FoxeS Instead?

This is a Revell Mustang Street Machine kit with a Monogram 96 Cobra chassis and a Mach III 4.6 Supercharged engine...

If you've ever built a Revel Mustang of this type, maybe you can spot someof the custom touches. You can see more of it in this old thread if you are interested: http://www.modelcars...ne&fromsearch=1

Sister car again with an SN95 Chassis...

Sorry I couldn't resist. Best of both worlds and all.

I've been away from this CBP for a while completing a whole bunch of vintage 1/32 scale kits...Duesies, Packards, Model T's and the like....... and getting some of the 1:1 jobs done around the house and on the real Foxes (the cars, I mean!). But I'm coming back soon with a couple of new Fox builds when I clear my bench and get my "to do" list finished!

This is just to let you guys know that I'm really impressed with the additional builds that have shown up in the last month or two and the interest that this thread is generating.

Tony (the other one).

Thanks Bradley,

The kit was a stinker! I was excited when it came out, as the first Aerofox on the market, and was encouraged/fooled by the box art photo of a real car (with cheesy airbrushed BFG tires to represent the kit junk) but the excitement went away when I took stock of the parts. It was supposed to be a nice stock two tone gray GT like the box art, but it was bad enough that hot rod was the way it had to go. I've never seen one of these built nicely stock, maybe that's the reason. If anyone ever did that, they have my respect!

I remember talking with you about these cars; as I believe it was you who suggested to me to use the AMT/Revell SN95 chassis under these (and with moderate modification, under the MPC cars). They both look killer, even for the kit they came from.

That sounds familar, very familiar...but I have short term memory issues on occasion (from my injuries from 10 years ago that put me outta work 2 years ago),I honestly can't remember-but that is how I built mine when I built em :). Hubor Heights,eh? I got me a parking violation at your Walmart several years back in my Cabover while I was having reefer repair done on my trailer,LOL! From what I remember (ticket was my fault,I knew better than to park where I did,LOL),was a pretty nice town, friendly peeps and all too :)

SN95s, eh?

Yep, I started one in 1994 when the first kit was released.

Some history: When the '94 Mustang appeared, I didn't like it at all. I was a Fox guy and had just bought a new '93 Cobra, and the '94 was all cute, round and cuddly looking, not aggressive enough, and pretty slow to boot. The local Ford dealer had a white GT convertible on the showroom floor with the top down, and I thought it looked like a big tennis shoe.

Time changes most things, and now they look good to me, plus it's far more rare to see a clean '94-'95 5.0 GT on the road than a clean Fox, so they catch the eye. A friend bought a new white '94 GT coupe with an AODE (pig) and we promptly installed a 6lb Kenne Bell supercharger with GT40 lower, SVO aluminum heads, short tube headers, and a shift reprogramming kit in the trans. It wasn't a pig after that.

I bought this Monogram GT (which was and is a very nice kit) with the intention of making it what the real one was wasn't in my eye - sleek, racy, and aggressive. Back then, they didn't call me Mr. fender flare for nothing. I thought everything looked better with big flares and bigger meats. Filled grille, front bumper cover reconfigured to Cobra with round fogs, Tamiya RX-7 sunroof because I was happy with it in the '87, lower side rocker pontoons deleted, taillights vertically narrowed to the two upper segments and kept all red, side coves reshaped to fit '68 Shelby scoops, and the hood - a heavily modded MPC '71 Mach 1 hood made to fit. Blown 4.6 engine, seats, and other items from the Mach III concept car, Parks meg exhaust tips, and that's as far as I got. The wheels and tires are Japanese parts pack, Fujimi I think, and the rear end is a parts box combo nine inch.

I will finish this car one day, hopefully soon. I never did come up with a color combo for it, other than a light exterior color. Any suggestions?
