LVZ2881 Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 We all commented, and complained of the kit prices when Hobbico took over( kits were in the $22.95-$24.95 range), but I purchased a Revell '66 Impala today @ my local Hobbytown, and it was $19.95...\ last month I got the new Revel '57 Bel-Air for $19.95 at a different LHS.. has anyone else noticed this??
tabsscale1 Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Yes I noticed some of the kits i bought last month at Hobby Lobby were cheaper the other day when i was in there. Almost looked like they dropped them all about $2.
charlie8575 Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 I've been noticing it, too. Perhaps as the tools get amortorized (paid for) they can reduce the prices a little to keep the product moving? Whatever the cause, it's welcome. Charlie Larkin
Casey Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 It seems Revell has a multi-tiered pricing structure: $29.95 MSRP for "Special Edition" new-tool kits such as the '57 Black Widow, '32 Fords, and '08 Dodge Challenger SRT-8 $24.99 MSRP for 2'n'1 "Special Edition" kits such as the '70 Boss/Mach 1 Mustang, '69 Nova SS, and '49 Mercury $19.99 for kits like the '68 Firebird 400 2'n'1, '69 Nova SS, and newer Mustangs $14.99 MSRP for the newer Snap Tite kits such as the '57 Chevy, '63 Vette, and Impala police car $12.95 for the ex-Monogram kits now labelled "Monogram Classics"
whale392 Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 interesting, because HobbyTown USA still wants top dollar for ALL Revell offerings.
mikemodeler Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Not to mention that the price of oil is creeping back up again, almost double of what it was a year ago. Could it be they tried to set the MSRP artificially higher so the discounts could be taken, giving the illusion that we were getting a "deal" ? Na, that sounds like a used car sales trick to me !
