Did the hardest part of this for me..

Making a window mount "a/c".....I used a piece of tube, a piece of 040 sheet, small length of channel, an old fan clutch ,and lotsa tenax :

Very nice work Mike!

That "can cooler" is sooo cool that I am surprised that Galaxie didn't add that to the extras list since it is such a simple item to mold.

Although, not an air-conditioner in the mechanical sense, it did cool the incoming air with water. The water was in the bottom of the can and a rotating mesh screen passed through the layer of water in the bottom and allowed the air to pass through it thus cooling the airflow. A "swamp cooler" is more apt a name and many houses in southern California still have them on the roof as the "poor mans" air-conditioner.

Since you shaved the handles and filler are you going to do some kick n' pull selenoid buttons under the rockers? Say like the merc on Gone in 60 Seconds. Not sure if you are hinging the doors and trunk but if you are I would move the gas filler to the left rear (driver's) corner on the inside of the trunk. That is where they put most of them. I love customs so bombs just fell in place for me. I love Artillery wheels though with wide whites versus wires. Just a historical side note the original reason, use and material for hydraulics were on bombs. they used actuators from airplane struts because then they could raise and lower the car when the cops were around as there were strict laws in California reguarding height.

Well it seems like forever since the last update.A lot of the boring things got done, file and sand....2 or 3 times at leastrolleyes.gif

then some time was spent on the motor.

All I can say is that it is a thing of beauty!!

I still need a little wash on the carbs to really bring out the details...but they still look great.

My original thought was to wire and plumb this build, but then I would detract from the details molded in.

Outside of the wheels, and rear trim this is almost an OOB.

I'm now working on the dash , seats , and interior. Body still needs to be sanded cleared and polished before foiling.....wink.gifwink.gif

Lotsa work getting done...thought I should update this. The color has been on and curing for a bit now. Hit it with 3 coats of Tangelo mixed into 75% SG100 intercoat clear...this gives the pearl more depth. Then it was on to the clear 6 coats of clear and now its baking at 105 for 4 hours.

So got the interior started with some TS6 and will get texture, gloss and some upholstery soon. Here is a picture of the dash...was perfect till I moved the lens when I was futuring itangry.gif .....(don't tellwink.gif )

Mike-

I was just on my way to update my VW post and I saw yours so I stopped in for a peak. It's looking fantastic! I love the color and it looks super smooth. I'm really digging the swamp cooler too. Nice job all around. Keep at it.

I was in Pegasus Hobbies a few years back & was looking for the Modelhaus "coolers" & Mike (Flynn) told me a real easy & neat trick, use a plastic ink pen (like a Bic) for the main body, & a Detail Master speaker cover for the rear "vent" you just need to taper the front of the body for an inlet, & ad a piece of .125 plastic for the window outlet into the car.

I heard that from Jairus and I could not get a pen that was the correct diameter vs window size so a length of tubing from the scrap box.
