Barbo Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 (edited) Hi..For the first time I am playig Golf. Thanks to Disney's Osprey Ridge Golf course. They have special golf carts for the handicapped. I tie myself to the seat. The seat rotates and lifts me up to be able to play.It is amazing and lots of fun..Barbo.....Above and Beyond. Edited June 20, 2010 by Barbo
Zhu Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 Good for you Barbo. You can't keep a good man down Never say never my friend Davey.
Peter Lombardo Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 Whooo, that is great to see. Osprey Ridge is a great golf Course, I think it is the best one at DisneyWorld. That is wonderful that they provide that kind of equipment. Now, you just need to work on your "grip" a bit, and get some new technology golf clubs....those old wood, woods, just don't cut it these days....but other than that, you look "Good to Go". Golf is a great sport and I love to see guys with a "handicap" get out and enjoy the day, the fresh air, the scenery and the friendship of a round of golf...keep it up. Golf is a tough game...it will play with your head as much as your body....so hang in there no matter how difficult it can seem. I wish I could join you for a round on Osprey....have fun!
Tony T Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 (edited) Just plain awesome, man!! Like they say: I'd rather have a bad day golfing, than a good day at work!! Edited June 11, 2010 by Tony T
cruz Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 You are always an inspiration to all of us my friend, God bless you!!!
Jon Cole Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 Barbo, that is great news! I never realized this was available. I have never tried golf. Well... not completely true.... I have, but that windmill always screws me up. Anyhow, I hope you had a good game.
sjordan2 Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 There was a story on the TV news a few days ago about a professional golfer who only has the use of one arm, and travels around giving exhibitions where he makes almost impossible shots using unusual equipment. He uses a golf car like this. It's very inspiring to see people like him and you going ahead to make the most out of life.
Van Halen Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 It's very inspiring to see people like him and you going ahead to make the most out of life. I couldnt agree more, that is a great piece of engineering there making things like that possible hope you had a great time
Chuck Most Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 I have never tried golf. Well... not completely true.... I have, but that windmill always screws me up.
Jim Gibbons Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 Very cool! I never golfed except in gym class when I was a senior in High School, but it is great to see innovations such as this for the disabled. I have very limited use of my legs, and was lucky to get a used handbike for a song. A handbike is a three wheeler with a seat and leg braces, and the pedals replace the handlebars. I get good aerobic exercise from it, and it gives a sense of freedom and ABILITY! Thanks for sharing.
Barbo Posted June 12, 2010 Author Posted June 12, 2010 (edited) Thanks guys.. this photo was taken from the Ranger at my first ever t-time, first ball to hit, but from there on I managed to have a better hand grip just like the pros , the thing was that I was more concern about the balance of my body than the hand grip,ja,ja,ja,ja This Golf course is not so easy as you say, but the scenery is like being in another country, specialy after the 3erd hole, hearing the birds, great lakes and hills."Awsome" its more a therapy than a game.About the golf clubs, its true but they are not mine, a friend lend me them. But soon I will have my own. I took it easy, going aside a few times to let the pros that were in back of me pass by. Hi..Jim, I have seen the handbikes, it is a wonderfull sport......Barbo Edited June 12, 2010 by Barbo
