need a bit of help with painting this truck

thinking of painting this rig flat colors (well worn look to her) just need to know if the bodys on these old trucks were steel or fiber glass

Good thing I read the sub topic, I was going to ask you WHAT TRUCK!!! I'm not 100% sure, but I would be willing to bet the 4300 would be either steel, but more probably, aluminum. If there were any parts that would be fiberglass, it would most likely be the hood. This is usually the standard today, aluminum cabs and sleepers with fiberglass hoods, with the exception of some Peterbilts and Western Stars. If I remember correctly, depending on model, some of the Petes and Stars use aluminum hoods instead of fiberglass.

im purdy sure the cab and sleeper were alluminum , the hood was fiberglass for sure. hope this helps

I've driven a few of those beasts, the cabs are aluminum and the hoods are fiberglass.

I worked on an old 4300 dump truck at my last job. A tired old thing, but it ran like a scalded cat and the a/c would freeze you out of the cab!. The hood and the windsheild mask are fiberglass, the rest is aluminum.

Back in '69, I had a 59 Corvette. The body on that had bubbles in it, not just the paint, but the actual body. I don't know if trucks have that same problem, but it would be cool to replicate.
