I find the attached show rod is trapped in my mind. Guess its time to try making it in plastic. I've got a good handle on parts of it but the engine has me stumped. Any recommendations as to a motor that would work for something like this? I'd like something modern but it MUST have the headers.

Suggestions would be appreciated.

Mike

I'd go with a big block Chevy too, you could do a 350, but a 454 would be a nice addition and plenty to power to that thing up and down the street !!! :D

The guys on the forum over there put this together. Took them several years because it was a pass along build. Nice piece. For the engine, I wold suggest the big block in the old AMT Pro Stock Twister Vega kit. The scoops can come from the Paddy Wagon.

That big block what comes with Vega kit is too small. I mean the size, no cubic inches. I think, maybe the best choice for big block Chevrolet is Monogram's '70 Chevelle ''Heavy Chevy'' 454. It's bigger size and with that kit comes one blower and other good parts... I used Chevelle's 454 with my '56 Chevy -->Here

G,day , didnt the mpc outcast have headers like that ?

It did, but they are small block Chevy. I have that kit. I raided it for parts. If the OP wants my Outcast engine + headers, he is welcome to them.

Road agent has a front axle that is sort of close to that.... but with two springs. I bet there is one with a single spring on some Tom Daniel rad ride that escapes me. :D

'been doing a bunch of research lately on roots blowers and enginea in general. George Barris (I believe) and a few others have done similer rods using two engines, just a thought.

I was gung ho on this until the posting of the built up of this car. It really took the wind out of my sails. Now I'm trying to get inspiration for another ideal.
