Chuck Most Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 What's a Crofton Bug? Why, it would be a "Modified 1:1 Reissue" of a Crosley Farm-O-Road. What' a Crosley Farm-O-Road? Oh, come on! Just Google it already!!!! Here we have an almost entirely scratchbuilt 1:25 Crofton Bug, made up of spare parts and scraps of Plastruct left over from various old projects... The body is scratchbuilt, while I robbed a '41 Chevy kit for it's headlamps, cut down a '55 Bel Air grille to make a custom part for the bug, the seats were swiped from a '25 Model T, the steering wheel is from a Ford Courier, the wheels and tires are off a die cast pull back toy, and the rest of the kit parts are, like those masked WWE wrasslers, from 'parts unknown'. And to give you an idea of how small (63" wheelbase) this little guy really is, here it is with a '51 Rambler... ... and a '66 Fairlane...
Chuck Most Posted July 8, 2010 Author Posted July 8, 2010 good thing the wiper blades are vertically opposed, otherwise, it would be thrown off balance when they were on!!!! The only car ever designed that you could 'train' to roll over like a dog...
Kombi Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 There seems to be hints of the Mini Moke in the Crofton Bug although perhaps it's the other way around? I always enjoy seeing something new, thanks for sharing!

I always enjoy seeing something new, thanks for sharing! Other way around- the Bug (and the earlier F-O-R) came first, but yeah, there most certainly is a resemblance! Hmmm... Mini Moke... maybe that'll be my next 'scratchbuilt from spare junk' project...
sjordan2 Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Not going to spend time Googling this thing. Got any info on it? Looks like something that was rendered obsolete by electric golf cars or Gators.
KENNEDYJR Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 That is too cool! Now you need to build a street machine version.
Chuck Most Posted July 8, 2010 Author Posted July 8, 2010 Looks like something that was rendered obsolete by electric golf cars or Gators. Ding!Ding!Ding! That's the gist of the thing- just a multipurpose utility vehicle, kind of like a Mini-Jeep. Oh, by the way, love that avatar!

Just Google it already!!!! You mean there are people out there who know not of the Crosley Farm-O-Road? Gadzooks sir, does thier ignorance know no bounds? I think I read about it somewhere... and the name is so silly it just stuck in my memory, although I had no idea what they look like until now! I salute you, your Crofton Bug, and your insanity.
Dr. Cranky Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Chuck, your versatility with subject matter always amazes me! Great little build to add to your collection.
Chuck Most Posted July 9, 2010 Author Posted July 9, 2010 That is cool! How about some engine and chassis pics? If I ever build a second one with engine and chassis detail... you'll be the first guy to see it!
Greg Cullinan Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 I hope the eco-nazis don;t see this or we'll al be driving one in ten years Great imagination and execution as usual Chuck.
