Billy Kingsley Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 Is there a definitive list of all resin websites? As my signature now states, I'm just getting into resin building. It took me long enough, I've been buying them since 2002 and it was my 2006 New Year's Resolution. I've been working with the for the past three days and I have a whole bunch more to clean. Right now I've got soaking: MCW 77-80 NASCAR Oldsmobile Perry's Resin 04-05 NASCAR Ford MCW 66 Nash Ambassidor RMR Willys Jeep Wagon and I've already cleaned Modelhaus 48 Tucker MCW 76-80 NASCAR Chevy Missing Link 65 Mustang Fastback Modern Motorsports 2003 NASCAR Pontiac and a bunch of loose parts. So, Now I'm wanting to peruse resin websites to see what else I can get myself into. I've got to say, when I finish one of them, I will be very proud of myself as this was/is a major hurtle for me. Now, I have a whole new world open to me and the sky is the limit! (well, that and my usually empty wallet!) This is the last big step and I'm really excited. The Tucker, MM Pontiac and MCW Monte Carlo should be primered later today, provided it ever stops raining. The Tucker is also going to be my first Documented Replica build, provided I can get the Tucker logo I need made up. Sorry to ramble, but I'm really excited about all this. Thanks in advance! I'm looking for currently active websites, sorry, I should have included that originally!
SoCalCarCulture Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Billy I try to keep a comprehensive list of Aftermarket Resources on my site... http://www.socalcarculture.com/modelcarlinks.html ...I appreciate any additions or comments on dead links!
Billy Kingsley Posted April 19, 2006 Author Posted April 19, 2006 Thanks Dave, I got your site in my inbox within 10 minutes of posting that! I didn't see Modern Motorsports on there.... http://www.angelfire.com/nj4/mm0/index.html I spent about 3 hours rooting around on your site... Steve, forgot the linK!!
dragsterguy Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 FNG here, I don't know if this is the right thread, but here goes. Is anybody printing early hot rod parts NOT flathead Ford. I know Replicas and Miniature once cast an accurate Model T Frontenac, but it is no more! Buick straight 8? Prewar GM bodies and engines? Am I the only guy who wants this stuff?

peteski Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 Guys, This thread is 18 years old!!! It's not surprising that a whole bunch of the cottage-industries listed *ARE* out of business. Even Billy, who started this thread 18 years ago has last visited forum in 2011 (13 years ago). I love when someone revives an ancient thread and starts critiquing it, then others pile on. 1
TECHMAN Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 So, other than ROCKETFIN, what other lists are "current"?

Expand There are aftermarket directory and 3D printing store directory threads pinned to the top of this section. Unfortunately after a certain amount of time posts can no longer be edited by anyone other than admins and mods, so the lists themselves may have businesses that are no longer valid or new businesses. But the threads themselves contain additional info.
peteski Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 Problem is that the type of industry (if we can cal small cottage-businesses "industries") covered in this 13-year-old thread is always in a state of flux. Unlike large model companies (like Revell, or Tamiya), these resin producers are usually a 1-man operation, often in their homes. Usually not their main source of income either. So things happen. Sickness, death, people get old or get tired of their business taking up to much of their time, etc. There are some exceptions, but even long standing companies like Modelhaus eventually fade away. One of the exceptions is Replicas and Miniatures Co. of Maryland (RMCoM), but even they have trimmed their selection of available products. Heck, even the large model companies go out of business or merge, and some of their product line disappears. Nothing lasts forever. To have an accurate up-to-date list of aftermarket resin (and now 3D-printed) model parts/kits would require someone with a lot of dedication and spare time to keep track of them all. Some of those small manufacturers only sell on eBay or Facebook No more websites. How do you keep track of them all?
