impcon Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 I have one of these cars in the back of my shop and watching this created a mixture of emotions - and joy wasn't one of them. I hope they catch these guys and put them away for a long, lomg time. http://www.myfoxla.com/dpp/news/local/classic-car-theft-caught-on-video-20100725
Harry P. Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Kind of a stupid thing to do... park it in back of a strip mall and leave it to go see a car show. Couldn't he have parked it at the car show?
59-Desoto Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Wow now that's low , I've had a 66 Sport Fury taken many years ago and know how this guy must have felt. If they are caught let they owner have them while they are still in cuffs . Remove the finger's and a few other body parts and I'll beat they'll never do it again .
Railfreak78 Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 I do not condone the crime but this guy kinda deserves it. Its the LA area and like Harry said. Why park it there in an alley behind a strip mall? Why not the car show? Leave the top down to boot? Like I said it stinks what happened but this guy did Everything wrong as a car owner.

About the only way he could have made it easier for them would have been to leave the keys in the ignition.
forthlin Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 I live in a town with a pop. of 600 & I wouldn't park it an alley behind buildings here let alone a big city like LA.
george 53 Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Around here, the insurance company MIGHT NOT even pay a claim off BECAUSE of the suspicious nature of the theft! The guys are right though, caz it was a FLAT OUT STUPID thing to do.Honestl he DESERVED it for being such an IDIOT! With the top DOWN no less! I had a 62 chevy impala that had the same type of ignition as that car, and if you DIDN'T turn the key to LOCK, it could be started without the key. Heck, even in lock, you could stick a screwdriver in it an still start it! This foo will have a good fight comin from the insurance co. what he did was plain ol ASKIN for it to be stolen!!! That bad boy is probably in the Phillipines by now!!!!
Modlbldr Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 My question is this: Why was a camera set up in a hotel room pointing at the car the entire time? Seems to me like they were looking to film something specific. Too bad it happened. Later-
crispy Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 It's already been converted to propane living it's day of days in Mexico.... This happened to a friend of mine. His truck was locked and on main street. Insurance paid out and 5 years later they found it just like I mentioned in my first phrase. Chris
Ben Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 That is sad! I would never park my Camaro out of site like that though!!!! I won't even go into a resturaunt if I can't park it right in front of the window where I can watch it. I also have three hidden kill switches that only I can find without tearing the car apart! It would be a shame if those thieves were hit by a truck, run over by a train, smashed by a falling building and eaten alive by dogs.......I mean seperatly. If that all happens to them at once, that would be funny! Do you know what i'd do if I saw one of them with only half a head? I'd stop laughing and reload!
Kaleb Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 In reply to the hotel shot, It does look like that seems like there was a reflection of someone in a window about 40 seconds in. But could be an overlay from another shot. Seems the owner could be in on it to get the insurance money...just a guess
element Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 No matter smart or dumb the owner is, nothing justifies taking another persons property, period. That is why they call theft a crime.
Harry P. Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 No matter smart or dumb the owner is, nothing justifies taking another persons property, period. Agreed. But in this case the owner's lack of common sense seems obvious.
