randx0 Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 It started out as just a seventies custom van ,funky paint, posh interior but then I got an idea gull wings would look cool then the side doors had to be gullwinged (after I added the other door) I have a pretty god idea as to where it's going but there are a few techniques that need to be honed first.
W-409 Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Very good start, very nice and interesting project. I like when people are building custom Van- style builds... Yours looks good, those opening doors will make this project more interesting, keep it going!
crazyjim Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Cool. How many terrific builds do you have going on, Randy? They're all worth watching.
randx0 Posted August 20, 2010 Author Posted August 20, 2010 Thank you .This one is one of my favorites.I also enjoy a custom van .Tim Boyd posted one a long time ago that wasn't finished but was pretty sweet he did some nice wheel flares which is something that I wish I had done with the rear wheel openings.
Kaleb Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Awesome, I like seeing builds like theses especially in 1:1. Also I am glad that you know a difference in "gull wing doors" and lambo, scissor, butterfly doors and whatever else they are called.
diymirage Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 looks cool your gonna have to scratchbuild some pretty sturdy gas shocks to keep those doors open, wouldnt want one of them to land on your head
tim boyd Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 (edited) Randy....I'm really liking the start of your project. Very cool and very period. And we know from history that 1970's custom vans are just a few years away from being "in" again so you are ahead of the game here. At least one other very well known modeler is heavily into a throw-down 1970's van project right now. Can't wait to see both of them (his and yours) done....TIM Edited August 21, 2010 by tim boyd

I have been hoping for these to come back but they never seem to take off.
Railfreak78 Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Hey nice work so far. I'm glad I'm not the only one bringing back vans I like what your doin so far.
Guest snapper Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Hey nice work so far. I'm glad I'm not the only one bringing back vans I like what your doin so far. Yep, respect the van. It's neat to see these making a comeback. Randy - looks like you have some good ideas going on here with the doors and all - really creative.

Thank you ,I just wish I could figure the rear door out I think it might drop down for use as a ramp but I haven't quite decided yet.
