Is anyone else having trouble getting on Fotki. I can't even get on the home page. This has happened before but usually only for an hour or so and linked photos still stayed up. Now my ebay photos are not showing up nor my photos on here.

Yup. There seems to be some trouble loading pics on eModelcars too. All the ones that fail to load are fotki hosted.

Of course, as far as I know, this information is of no pracital use, but I thought I'd kick my two bits in any how. B)

Yea, there is talk in the rig area about it also. Their site is down it seems.. maybe you all should get a photobucket account B)

I don't know for sure how many thousands of photos I have on Fotki... it may well be in the tens of thousands. I'm not going to start over now. I did a trial once of Photobucket, I could not figure out how to set up different album pages. With Fotki, I have a "download here" page, then I transfer each photo to one of my hundreds of albums.

I've been trying to get on all morning... no dice.

Yeah- tried Photobucket once, and got assaulted with pop-ups. I'd rather pay $20 a year for Fotki and avoid Photobucket like the plauge. :D

Gang, I have both sites, and yes the pop-ups can be a pain in the butt. But please keep in mind that if you are using the "FREE" accounts you are going to have to indure the ads.

Personally, I use Photobucket for forum stuff and Fotki for my personal photos, the real key here is to back up your "keeper" pics on your 'puter and for those really special photos......put 'em on a disc or on an external hard drive! All the boo hoo's in the the world won't make up for lost pics.

When your 'puter decides is time for your hard drive to take a dump it's either pee and moan time or you can be cool and say "Hey, I backed that stuff up!"

Well, the only thing I can say here is.. that for the ones that have Fotki, your photos are all down as well just like the site is. But the people like myself that have photobucket, my photos are still up and people can see them. I'm not paying anything and I can get around the Photobucket stuff very easy and know how to creat albums as it's not hard at all. But two each his own though B)

I can't wait to check out your site, now I want Fotki to get right and I don't even have an account.

I have photobucket and never seen a pop-up??

Try running a nearly 30,000 photo website and your "server" goes down. I hope they fix this issue like yesterday, I've been using Fotki as my photo servers for over 7 years now, and usually when the main site goes down the photos stay up. It's been down since at least 8am EDT, and it's now almost 5pm EDT :)

Fotki suffered a severed fiber optic cable, apparently. Accidents can happen to anyone. It could have happened to Photobucket or Flickr or any other image server.

I've used Photobucket for years. Never had a problem, and it's free. And I've never seen a "pop up" ad. Yes, they have static ads, but if I can get free photo hosting in exchange for an ad or two on their home page... fine by me!

I have to wonder why people will pay for Fotki when they can get the same from Photobucket for free??? Oh well, it's your money, guys.

8 cents a day is well within my budget for FOTKI. :)

Freakin' IT Nazis clamped down on the old work computer system. Seems Photobucket is a banned site now. With the 'bucket banned and Fotki down I didn't have a way to screw off in the office. I actually had to write a report, and send the darn thing to the DA!

Sheeeesh, I'm supposed to be semi-retired. :)

Fotki is indeed back up! Thank you Danno for the info explanation as to what happened... yes, it could happen to any service.

Still, I am always interested in alternatives. Can someone tell me if it is possible, as well as easy to make individual folders, or albums in either Photobucket, or Flickr? Can you explain how to do that? I'm a photo junkie, I hoard them! I need separate folders. Gracias!
