MikeBoyle Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 Here's my parts box '29 Ford Roadster PU More pics here: http://public.fotki.com/mrboyle/model_cars...9_ford_rat_rod/
MonoPed Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 Here's mine: 1929 Ford Woody, built from the Rat Rod '29 pickup kit and a whole lotta basswood: 1932 Ford 3 Window: 1932 Ford 5 Window parts box special: 1932 Ford Sedan, Perry's Resin body: 1940 Ford Standard Coupe:
SoCalMark Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 Those are nice, I really like the 32 5 window. I only have only, a 29 P/U.
camaroman Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 Nice builds Guys!!! I like them all. Where are you guys getting those wire wheels from???
Zoom Zoom Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 Nice models guys! This is one of my favorites. Such and easy/quick kit to have some fun with, lotsa bang for the buck. Custom-mixed Model Master enamels, Modelhaus tires, parts box wheels, did some simple surgery to get the front end down where it belongs. Got another one to do with a little more patina  This one qualifies as a factory hot rod, though it was a prototype. One-off 1934 Ford model 40 Speedster, commonly referred to as the "Edsel Ford Speedster". Built for Edsel Ford to satisfy his need for speed. It was originally gray metallic but later restored and repainted red. The real car has tons of character (one of my all-time favorite cars in person), and is in the original survivor condition from that restoration from the early 50's, and apparently will stay that way. Model by R&D Unique, w/a few parts from Revell's '37 Ford PU. This is the model built by an unknown builder, in the car's original color scheme: Dan Fink's Speedwagon, in a different color. Another spectacularly easy and fun kit to put together:
SoCalMark Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 Nice builds Guys!!! I like them all. Where are you guys getting those wire wheels from??? I think they came out of the 28 woody street rod.
Brian Nehring Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 Here's a few Fords I've built. Brian Duece 3 window '37 Coupe '37 Sedan Delivery Stock bodied 40 Cut up 40 under construction And a shot of my 1:1 Ford rod, '36 Tudor sedan humpback
Darin Bastedo Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 I think they came out of the 28 woody street rod. Actually you can find them in the Monogram 1930 ford woody
Wildrice Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 Here is the AMT Phantom Ford Vickie pre painted kit that I did up in flat black. Great kit for a quick build.
CarModDave Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 Wow! Sweet builds, guys! Nothing like street rods to get the juices flowing. Here's a couple of mine that I'm SURE a lot of you have seen before: Revellogram '37 Coupe Monogram "Early Genuine Iron" '36 Convertible
SoCalMark Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 Actually you can find them in the Monogram 1930 ford woody Thanks, they were in the parts box but I knew it was a woody. They are a great set of wheels.
ChevyAsylum Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 Here are a few of mine: Revellogram T-Bucket What I hope my 1:1 29 Model A pickup will look like when phase 1 of the restification is done: A 32 phaeton "Bathtub Rat": There are some great rods in this thread. I've really enjoyed the pics everyone has posted. Here's a full-sized 28 or 29 Model A Tudor rat that I saw yesterday at the Rat Fink Reunion in Manti, Utah (where Ed Roth lived for the last 15 or 20 years of his life): Question for Jairus: is that t-bucket with the "slightly emaciated" driver powered by a Lincoln V-12 flathead? It's an awsome build. Since I just got a 48 Lincoln kit from eBay and was planning to build it as a semi-wild kustom, that motor might be a real good candidate for a rat. Hmmm...ya got me thinkin on this one.
Jairus Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 Lincoln V12? Yes, my version of a Lincoln using two V8's trimmed for glueing! Actually a Monogram Lincoln will end up being slightly smaller... but the effect non the less cool! GO FOR IT! 8)
slotbaker Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 Here's my modest effort on a slot car. Nowhere near the attention to detail of the other great models in these pages, but I enjoyed doing it, and it looks 8) going around the track.
Jairus Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 I think it looks great! Thank you for posting it. 8)
weasel Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 i've got a couple.... here's a BEFORE..... and resurected!!! and my '29 P/U
jbwelda Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 hey jarius: not that i want you to give all your secrets away but where did you get that duval windshield (i take it thats what it is), that skull shift knob and those cool pod headlights? i got something going on right now that *needs* those headlamps!
Jairus Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 I have no secrets.... that is why I write how-to's for MCM. The Duval windshield is hand made out of a sheet of aluminum. The skull shift knob is resin from some resin caster.... I think. (I actually made my own skull knob once by grinding away hair, eyeballs and such from a 1/32 plastic figure) The headlights are Monogram 1936 Ford. 8)
jbwelda Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 nice job on that windshield...that sort of thing separates you pros from us (me) amateurs! im going to have to find that 36 ford! many thanks again for the info
jbwelda Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 ok jarius im going to have to beg your indulgence one more time, remember USA iron is not anywhere near my speciality. so i went to the local hobby shop in search of a monogram 36 ford with those sort of headlamps but there didnt seem to be such an animal. there was an AMT 36 ford but just from the box art it didnt seem to have as exaggerated headlamps as your model does. so is the monogram 36 ford out of production? did you mean the AMT one? do you have any idea where i can get one if its indeed monogram and out of production (i assume the best bet would be ebay) or do you know that it is in fact in production and my hobby shop just doesnt know about it? anyway many thanks again
Gray Smith Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 There are some nice looking street rods here, but Jarius I've got one request. How about something a bit more modern, or futuristic even, like the 2032 rod you built years back? Any chance we could get some pics of it? It struck me as an awesome build then, and still does to this day and I was wondering if I could see some better pics of it. Thanks Gray btw give me some time people and I'll post my 32 that i'm building, and my 29 rat rod, with the stock 4cyl and an ohv conversion, efi, and turbo.......
Jairus Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Gray, The "Future Rod" look is not popular right now and thus I am not working on anything like that. Rat Rods, Nostalgia Rods, and Vintage look is the most dominant theme currently. The 2032 roadster was neat to build and I am glad you like it. I can dig it out and shoot a few pics but not right now. Too many responsibilities.... 8)
Jairus Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 so is the monogram 36 ford out of production? did you mean the AMT one? do you have any idea where i can get one if its indeed monogram and out of production (i assume the best bet would be ebay) or do you know that it is in fact in production and my hobby shop just doesnt know about it? Jah Bill, The headlights... might be from the '39 Chev... I forget, it was a long time ago and I'm getting up there in years. That would be the Revell/Monogram 39 Chev! Pretty sure now that I checked the box... they are missing so I must have used them! Give that a try. Sorry for the missinformation.
