Brett Barrow Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 (edited) This is what I left the store with tonight - -and- -and then what's waiting in the mailbox when I get home?? And on top of that I bought the Chi-Town Hustler on Wednesday, could you buy 4 things that were any more unrelated? Edited September 25, 2010 by Brett Barrow

highway Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 Thanks for fixing the pic, and to answer your question, you aren't alone. I do the same thing on occasion. I might go in to the hobby shop for a car or truck kit, and end up with a tank, plane, and ship model in the bag as well.
Railfreak78 Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 I mix and match all the time Depends on the deals
89cxsport Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 I haven't purchased a model in about five or more years, but your top model lots like something I would like to build. When I did buy models it was a mix of autos and military stuff.
roadhawg Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 A guy in our club did the review on that dozer for IPMS. Thats a cool little kit. http://www.mountainmodelers.org/gmm_watercooler/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=842
Ryan S. Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 Now the trick would be to make all those purchases work together... *Military theme graphics on the drag car *Carbon Fiber Push-blade on the 'dozer *Combine them all and make a drag-racing-military themed-bull dozer!

I thought that was the plan If so, Can't wait to see that build
Foxer Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 I just want to see the composite fiber blade on the dozer!
Junkman Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 (edited) Those people at the cash registers must think I'm either a total lunatic, or a suicide bomber. Today I bought at the DIY: A tin of plastikote chrome effect spray, a tin of blackboard paint, a box of steel wool, two round 9mm wood rods, two 2-Litre bottles of thick bleach, flints, a sheet of 4mm plywood, and a bag with 32 Swarovski 5mm crystal beads in jonquil, which were on sale for 35p. I was wearing sunglasses and my black suit for work. Hey, I can explain it all, constable... Edited September 25, 2010 by Junkman
Joe Handley Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 Well, they could have though you were a more stylish MacGuyver Junkman

Now, he said as far as he knew they were both complete, & if not, they could be combined. One is a Paul K. Guillow kit & is still available through them while the other is from Easy Built Models Limited & is also still listed on their site. Both kits combined cost over $50, & he gave them to me for free. Keep in mind I don't do aircraft, I tried a balsa & tissue paper Guillow P51 Mustang kit as a kid & gave up on it pretty quickly. This might be an "interesting" project for me!! That did turn out to be an odd mix as it were. I dabble in stick and tissue, I haven't done much in a few years, but I still have all the supplies. Some of that stuff smells gooooooooood!!!! I can point you to a really good tutorial here - http://www.ffscale.co.uk/comper.htm there's lots of good info on the site Home page - Mike's Flying Scale Models It's hard to get good dope in the US , so his method of sticking the tissue to the frame doesn't work as well over here, I've had good results using UHU glue sticks and alcohol instead, and using Krylon Crystal Cote instead of dope as a sealer coat, then you can paint with pretty much any regular hobby paint you want.
