Harry P. Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Here's another 50s era cruiser...this is the "Skip's Fiesta" re-issue.
Irvin Arter Jr. Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 nice ford, don't see many of those built!
BIGTRUCK Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Great looking '59 Harry....do you remember the ''Skips'' on North Avenue in the burbs?
MrObsessive Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 A NICE super smooth cruiser! Unique that it was a one year deal for Ford! 8) ..................And your top fits very well! No small feat that is!
Harry P. Posted February 23, 2007 Author Posted February 23, 2007 Thanks, guys. I made new wire hinges for the folding portion of the roof, but other than that everything is straight out of the box and went together very well. The roof works! Not bad for a model that was tooled back in the stone age...
Harry P. Posted February 23, 2007 Author Posted February 23, 2007 Great looking '59 Harry....do you remember the ''Skips'' on North Avenue in the burbs? Can't say that I do, Ken. I was a city kid...I didn't get out into the 'burbs much. My hot dog place was Phil's on Fullerton just east of Pulaski. Oh, that brings back memories...
bob paeth Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 Watch what you say about the "stone age" Harry !!!!!!!!!!!!! . LOL bob
MrObsessive Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 Bill, the Skyliner retractable roof variation was available on the Fairlane/Galaxie, (59 was the 1st year for the Galaxie name), from 57 to 59. Mark, I meant the '59 Ford line in general was a one year deal. The '58 is a whole different car, and the '60 is another kettle of fish altogether. The only thing they had in common perhaps were the chassis and maybe engine cubes. True the '57-'58 Fords had Skyliners........but if you crunch a body panel on the '59, you'd have to replace it with...........another '59. Same could be said of the '57-'58's but the '58's were only a mild restyle of the '57's  I think even the '59 Skyliners windshield header was unique to that year due to Fords one year only "wraparound/wrapover" windscreen. I thought I read once that Ford designed the whole '59 lineup specifically for the Skyliner. Frankly, I wish they'd go back to 2 year styling cycles instead of hanging on to the same ugly/boring styling for years on end!
