Gene Snow`s: the "Snowman" Charger F/C

Hello.......this is another older build I built.....I bought this original kit off Ebay about 5 years ago,,,,,,,,,.I pulled it out and weathered it a little......box stock......I clear coated over the original red body plastic........thank`s for looking.

Yeah ... too bad about his later ... um ... activities. I won't built models of his cars because of those. Still, your model looks fantastic, John, as always.

Yes!!......that does suck.......being a father........It`s kinda like an O J thing..........but we do remember the good day`s about the past?

Absolutely, John. But finding out something like about one of my childhood heroes just kinda killed my desire to ever want to build or own a model of his one of his cars again. Guy sounds like a world-class creep.

Understand, though, that I am in no way criticizing your model or your decision to build it ... your work is stellar, always, and I know your goal in building it was probably to replicate a cool race car you remember fondly from your younger days. Nothing wrong with that at all ...

Thank`s Ken.......I really appreciate that comment........It was a younger day`s model that all my friends and I wanted to build........when I started buying all the old kits that I had as a kid off Ebay......it was my way to bring back the good ol` days......... of all the great times and sleep overs at friends .........building models all night.......in those days we could by a model kit that day and by the next morning we could have the model finished........I wonder if any of the younger generation is like I was????

Hey John,

First of all, wow, your car looks great, sure brings back memories too. Gene was a boyhood hero to lots of us, we didn't know how things would turn out for him, but we sure thought he, and his cars, were cool.

Yep, did the same thing with the models, had the cellophane off before mom could even get the car started, and was planning the build (the part where not much got painted, but the glue got smeared everywhere) in my head on the way home. Sometimes, have them done before bed, sometimes built by flashlight, sure miss those days!! Don't know if the younger generation appreciates how much fun we had back in the day, a much more memorable and simpler time that I personally enjoyed every minute of.

My skills are not to my satisfaction, yet, but one thing I am proud of is the three snap-tite's I have built with my God-son, hopefully I am passing down part of that fun time to him and his generation. Thanks for posting as usual John, and thanks for all of you sharing the memories!

Ya......I here you Mike.......those were the good o`l day`s.......sometimes when I`m building I drift off into familiar place as a kid........time goes by so fast.......I have tried to get my kids to building models........ but there into video games,facebook ,twitter,etc..........I sure loved building models.....and still do.......I don``t really no what it is ?.......but it is sure takes me to a humble place.........thanks for the comments guy`s.

Looking good! Like that colour on it and paintjob is very good and those details on the engine and chassis are very good looking. It's looking AWESOME as always, John. It's great to see these older builds from you, I would post my older stuff too... Don't know, they are quite big gluebombs but...

Is this the 1/16th scale?

I had this one, lost the body in the move across country.

Need to get a body to go with my chassis.

I'm still a little timid about trying to "weather" a freshly painted model.

You do a very nice job of that. Love the slicks especially.

Hondo........yes, this is a 1/16 scale........before I even started to weather stuff.......I practiced with different paints and parts ........trial and error is the best way to achieve what you want........you just have to practice.......thank you for the nice comments.

Beautiful. Another well-researched and insightful build. You're a man after my own heart with the weathered, race-track look as I did with my 1/12 GT40. Especially love the light soil and exhaust on chassis tin and small parts.

-And NOBODY (except you and me!) gets the G'year logos right-the letters are tan/brown just like you got 'em-not bright white. Just a tiny suggestion if I might: the stencil lines run vertically through the 'O's, 'D', 'A' and 'R' like this:
