I usually use Dupli-Color Semi-Gloss Black, but really any black will do. Just sort of depends on the look you're going for.

tamiya semi gloss black is a good choice.

I like that one, too. It just smells to Hight Heavens! I've used Rust-Oleum Satin Black with good results, as well.

From what I understand, most trucks are painted with gloss paint all over when the roll out of the factory, but I think (and this is just me) that a semi-gloss or satin on the frame looks better. Sort of breaks up the shine.

I usually use Tamiya gloss black over Testors flat black. it has a definite gloss when dry, but not too much. Also the flat black covers everything in one coat, giving the gloss something to stick to and not pull away from raised details! B)

If you're talking a north American class 8 truck from Mack, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Freightliner, International, Western Star - "chassis black" wasn't matte or flat black when new. The color is gloss. I'm not sure of what Ford and GM did in the 60's and 70's. The other makes painted the frames with gloss paint.

I use Duplicolor black primer with Duplicolor gloss black.
