Smart-Resins Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Alright guys.My daughter built a snap tight at a show last fall and had a blast. My wife gave me the new re-issued 55 nomad for Christmas and the daughter liked it, so I have been working literally hand in hand with her to teach her some things about how to customize a model. She is loving it.She is much slower at things then I am, and thats not great since I take forever myself to get anything done  She is turning it into a pro street delivery. It will be black with a custom interior and will bear purple flames.
BIGTRUCK Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 A great start to one of my favorite kits...its even more fun when the kids get involved....
MrObsessive Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Ditto what Ken said.........I need to find the time to build a Nomad! Great to have another youngster in the hobby! How old is she?
James W Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 That's great that you are getting her involved. My six year old daughter loves to build with dad. We've done several snaps and are working on a glue kit (Revell Viper) I have found it helpful to buy my kids the new kits as they go together wel and the instructions are better. It's a wonder that any kids built models in the 60's at all That's quite the ambitious project, good luck and I'm sure the time will be well spent.
monsterman Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Thats awesome my cousin is into modeling now and since he got older my Aunt said it was cool so I sent him 3 snap kits, he called to thank me then asked to send a few more but this time with glue!!
Tom Kren Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Nice job so far from both of you My 6yr old daughter is on her 2nd no make that 3rnd model and is having fun doing it and im having fun helping her with it too keep us posted!
Smart-Resins Posted February 21, 2007 Author Posted February 21, 2007 She be 7.She enjoyed the snap.Thought I would push the envelope with her on this one to show her what can be done and that you can get out of the box once in a while. After this one, will let her somewhat loose to see what she wants to do on her own as far as swapping parts ect.We of course need to close in the middle and shorten the front and clean up the frame. After that, fairly simple.
Brian Fishburn Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Munchkin modeling is the best!!! My six year old daughter is working on her first glue kit, and has been doing snappers (with varying degrees of help) for about two years. I love it when I hear "Daddy, can we go downstairs and work on my glue kit?"
