ian ashton Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 (edited) I've searched all of the big names and can't seem to find a thing. Anyone know of a Chevy or Dodge 4 door cab to pair with the AMT kits, possibly a Ford cab and bed combo? Edited October 15, 2010 by ian ashton
mikemodeler Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 Ian, Nothing out there in kit form and the resin casters haven't cast anything newer that a '70's or '80's model crew cab. Many of us are waiting for something to come out.
ian ashton Posted October 15, 2010 Author Posted October 15, 2010 Bummer. Looks like I'll try my hand at hacking some stuff together... Thanks!
ian ashton Posted October 15, 2010 Author Posted October 15, 2010 THAT'S where the fun is,Ian!!!!! Very true, but it has been my experiance that I have a short attention span, and with really indepth projects I'll get about 60% done, then lose interest, haha.
jeffs396 Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 Ian, there's a late model Ford Super Duty four-door cab available somewhere in resin, can't recall where though...
mikemodeler Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 (edited) Ian, there's a late model Ford Super Duty four-door cab available somewhere in resin, can't recall where though... I forgot about that one! I think it is part of a resin ambulance kit and it runs about $100. I can't remember if the truck cab is available separately though. I am sure someone will post the link or some information about it. Just did some searching- the place that offers the kit is SSB Resins (www.ssbresins.com). They have a kit of a late model Ford F-350 quad cab with utility bed, sells for $99. Edited October 15, 2010 by mikemodeler

I just emailed to see if they'd do a cab-only. Then I'd just have to work on a dually bed, which shouldn't be too hard to get from the Chevy & Dodge kits I have.
jeffs396 Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Ian, if you want to do a build-up from a diecast, these SpecCast F250-350s aren't bad... or these were available too...this is probably what the master was made from for the SSB resins kit...
ian ashton Posted October 16, 2010 Author Posted October 16, 2010 Very interesting... I'm honing my mold making skills, I wonder... Thanks for the info!
ian ashton Posted October 19, 2010 Author Posted October 19, 2010 I got a reply from SSB resins that they will not sell just their cab. Oh well. Maybe when I get better at my casting I'll buy one of those die casts and try to duplicate it in resin
mikemodeler Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Ian, A member by the screen name Aftashox (Rommell) mentioned that he mastered his late model Ford crew cab and had it cast in resin. He is very sharing with his skills and knowledge, maybe you can contact him and get some help. I bought a diecast Ford F-350 with the idea of trying to cast it but haven't saved up the cash for the resin just yet!
AzTom Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 I got a reply from SSB resins that they will not sell just their cab. Oh well. I got the same answer from them. I have a real 06 crew cab dually and I would love to get my hands on a cab. I haven't found a die-cast in 1/25 - 1/24 yet, that would work for me. I may end up buying the ambulance and either selling the bed or building it with something else. AzTom
Chuck Most Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 You might want to get with Aftashox- I think he used a resin cab on that wild green Ford SD he build a year or two back. I'm thinking of stretching a testors F-250 into a Crew Cab, but I've never cut and pasted die cast metal before!
shelbrn90 Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 One of the collectible companies made a crewcab dually ford. It came in a nascar set with a car and trailer. I have one I kind of parted out, I had the SSB resin cab and was using parts for both, then lost interest and sold the project. I do have some parts left including the diecast cab and dually bed, so email me and I will let you know what all I have. Eric

Rick Forrester Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Ron Andrew does some. MRM RESIN he have some. He has a web site.
JamesW Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Brookfield makes a Ford Crew cab Dually. It was available in the race version (I THINK only John Force) with a gooseneck trailer. They also did a Harley version with a bike in the bed. I see them on Ebay from time to time and CAN get pretty pricey. I picked up the Harley version (without the bike) a couple years ago for $25 shipped.

I'll have to keep an eye open for that one. The Chevy may work for Ian though. Thanks, Tom
