Railfreak78 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 (edited) Hey everybody. I decided to show you all my next main project. GoodGuys edition 1923 T-Bucket. I normally have horrible luck with 20's and 30's cars and have not touched one in a very long time. So I decided to go with a theme on this car and I want to thank Highway for the decals. I figured John Deere would be cool since this car has a trailer. Through the pics I wanted to show th removal of the lettering on the interior. This is a heads up for anyone with the kit. The seat does NOT hide all of the copyright lettering. Next I also show stripping the chrome wheels in Westleys Bleach White as I will color code them. Comments always welcome and enjoy Edited November 14, 2010 by Railfreak78
Jantrix Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Interesting. Looks great so far. One thought though. I like the chassis yellow and body green it all screams John Deere, but having the interior in a matching yellow starts to make it look like a toy. Just my opinion.
vaughn Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Hey Brian...dont know where you've had bad luck in the past with these but this one looks good to me. Like the colors and your theme. One question.....whats that screw in the side of the soaking cup for? Gotta be a method to the madness. Right?

I see your point too. I am planning on making the interior something like tri-color. Still working the interior in my head. So far this is about 4 hours of work

My little dunk tank for stripping chrome is a small cotton candy container. I went to the cooking section of WalMart and found a 3 piece strainer set. I heated up the handle on the size that fits in the cup. The screw helps hold the strainer in place so parts don't sink to the bottom and when I pull it out I can remove the strainer with all the parts. Poor mans way of making it easy

Still working the interior in my head. So far this is about 4 hours of work Brian, you could maybe at least start with black or leather colored seats, and maybe some of the green for trim. You're welcome for the decals, too, even though the way it's looking, you won't need the slow moving vehicle triangle! Edited October 18, 2010 by highway
Harry P. Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Hey everybody. I decided to show you all my next main project. GoodGuys edition 1923 T-Bucket. I normally have horrible luck with 20's and 30's cars and have not touched one in a very long time. Why? '20s and '30s cars are no more difficult to build than any other era. I think the problem may just be a perception on your part.

I need to look at some tractor pics again.

My skills have grown more in a year than my entire growing up I was never able to get the older cars of this era to fit right and my enemy was the kind with the head lights on the chrome bar. Like my Speed Wagon.. see no headlights But I have learned from so many that now I know tricks to avoid the mistakes.
AzTom Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 That's too cool Brian. Being a farm toy collector I'm liken this one. I think the 4430 open station, no cab, would have a yellow seat so that would go well here. You could mix some black and maybe silver trim, you have that on your leaping Deere emblem. Is it going to have a belly mower? AzTom
VW Dave Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 I like the leather idea, maybe a saddle color.. or black. I need to look at some tractor pics again. How about black with yellow or green piping? Either way you finish it, I'm enjoying the direction you're headed in.
David G. Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 Very cool idea, Brian. What you've done so far looks good, but I have to agree with some of the other guys. The yellow seems too bright for the interior. Maybe a saddle or light tan color or a cream or butter yellow leather for the seats with the yellow you already have on it for the dash and some of the metal interior fittings. Regards, David G.
Railfreak78 Posted October 27, 2010 Author Posted October 27, 2010 Here is an update as I finally was able to get some work done on it. I struggled a lot on the front end of this car. The instructions are a little less than desirable. Anyway I have not given up and NO the interior and top will not be yellow This kit actually has poseable steering however I have to finish the front end for better radius. None of the long chrome arms are actually attached yet. I think it's shaping up rather well. Enjoy!
RodneyBad Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Well my bros work for John Deere (Pape now) so I do have a like'n for the Green and yellow combo. It's looking perty good too..

And here I was thinking Green Bay Packers. Thanks for setting me straight.

Railfreak78 Posted October 27, 2010 Author Posted October 27, 2010 And here I was thinking Green Bay Packers. Thanks for setting me straight. That would be a cool idea too! I have one of those Football hot rod kits and have no idea if I'm actually going to put a team on it.
mcandela Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Great idea, color combo makes it different! Looking real good.
AzTom Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Lookin great Brian, Can't wait to see those yellow stripes on it. AzTom
Railfreak78 Posted November 5, 2010 Author Posted November 5, 2010 Well here is an update. I haven't had the time to do much on it yet. I have the engine mostly done. Ignition wires and boots are made ( I see I have to fix a boot) Chrome parts that were taped in the previous pics are now glued. Engine is actually in place but the headers come later. I also need to run fuel. I plan on running battery cables to after I find a place to put one I've started the bed to it too and more soon.
