highway Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Looking good Brian! How about a battery box somewhere on the inside of the framerail right behind the middle crossmember? If the interior interferes there, how about in the corner where the frame and rear crossmember meet under the bed?
W-409 Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 That's looking good and it's cool project. Engine is looking very good, frame is nice and so on. Oly one thing, what is disturbing me. That seam of the engine what comes when you glue those engine halves together. But that doesn't relly matter, it's looking very good!

If the interior interferes there, how about in the corner where the frame and rear crossmember meet under the bed? I was thinking along those lines too. I was originally going to put it in the bed but its so small as it is....

Yeah I think I'm going to try to fix it. I already sanded the parts down well on this one. I forgot to bondo this one. To the naked eye it seamed like the Plastistruct melted it together well enough but the paint showed the seam anyway.
Railfreak78 Posted November 6, 2010 Author Posted November 6, 2010 looking good Brian i don't worry much about the seams on the top of the transmission, after the model is built who's going to see it? the seam on the bottom i do try to smooth or at least minimize so it's not so bad though. the only thing that stands out to me on this is the red shocks. they kind of clash with the overall theme and colors used on everything else. i do wonder though how they would look painted in a more solid red gloss, and the whole shock too not just the upper body. if anything maybe aluminum would work and still provide a slight contrast along side the chromed pieces. Thanks Dave I was not very happy with the shocks myself. I did not want them to be yellow and I normally make my shocks red since I loved my Edlebrock shocks on one of my real rides. Those are normally solid red but in the same breathe I wanted the chrome. I like the aluminum idea as I don't like the way these look. Thanks for pointing it out while I have a chance still to paint them.
RodneyBad Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 Thanks Zuk. Whats Pape? Is Deere being taken over? I couldn't really tell ya, My Brothers worked at a John Deere shop ( Large Equipment) and I think that maybe just the shop was bought by PAPÉ MACHINERY. They still do Mainly John Deere but also work on other Heavy Equipment. BTW: Engine and Frame look Excellent.. What about a Green trim ring(or something)on the wheels?
Chuck Most Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 Kind of bummed to see the Chevy mill- I was kind of hoping for an old 2-cylinder JD motor!
Railfreak78 Posted November 6, 2010 Author Posted November 6, 2010 (edited) Small update before heading out of town to ride a 4 wheeler and then relax in a hot tub Interior is started. I am not quite done yet but I figured I'd show some progress. Enjoy! (sorry about the hair that got in there, I saw it while uploading pics. ) Edited November 6, 2010 by Railfreak78
Railfreak78 Posted November 11, 2010 Author Posted November 11, 2010 Well here is some progress.... The body and bed are now glued down to the frame. The trailer is started including the wood bed. I have to find an electric fan since it did not have a regular one or try to sqeeze one in. I touched up where the interior meets the body as you were able to see yellow showing through. I am not happy with the headers since I'll scrape off the finish to get rid of the excess flash. I might go with normal short manifolds. I have a few minor odds and ends and touch up to do still and decals. I have to clean up around the wheels too I know It might be the last workbench post so enjoy!
Chuck Most Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 I kind of like Dave's idea of running black headers and exhaust. To expand on something he mentioned earlier- the red shocks MIGHT fit the 'John Deere' theme, if you just say it's a Waterloo Boy! That was the first use of the green body/yellow wheels, but the engine was painted bright red.
Harold Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Nice job .My wife ran off with a tractor salesman- she sent me a 'John Deere' letter .
Foxer Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 You did a fine job putting the colors where they are.
Railfreak78 Posted November 12, 2010 Author Posted November 12, 2010 Sneak peek before under glass. I'm so close I hate to stop but have to for the night! I followed your advise guys and the black headers look great!

horsepower Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 probably to late now, but many of these little T's in the 1:1 world had the battery mounted under the seat area.
