I know how you feel G. I married my first less than a year after returning from The 'Nam. She couldn't take my drinking and anger. Dated for a long time and fell in love with #2 but she wouldn't marry me until I got help for some PTSD issues. That took 5 years with a VA shrink. After 9 years of marriage and a whole bunch of credit card bills, I got home to an empty house. She decided she liked her supervisor at work better. My #3, Marcia is great! She is actively involved in all the Veteran stuff I do and doesn't mind that spend time building. She thinks I waste time, but I think the same of her playing Farmville all the time.

After 15 months I returned to to the world and an empty apartment in O'side. She left a note with the super as she left Cali.

My recuperation involved alcohol and a new duty station, the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.

I left the Corps in '78 vowing never to return to Missouri. Right, a year later my uncle calls and asks if I wanted to be a policeman in the 'Lou. Back I went, met #2 and we wed in '82. She absolutely refused to discuss anything that happened to me and forbade me from telling my children of my time in the Corps. That marriage gave me PTSD.

#3 was a looker, problem is she was as psychotic as they come. That didn't surface ubtil after we married. I got the house, my car, my bike, the dog, and a fair bit of relief now that she was gone.

#4 is a wonderful person and I finally got it right. After dating around for a couple of years, I met her and said this one's for me. She felt the same way. We eloped one afternoon getting married in my Towncar in the drivethrough of the Little White Wedding Chapel. ;)

When my #2 left she took my dog too! I had to drive all the way out to Sycamore (40ish miles) a week later to pick her up. My Samantha wasn't eating and crying all the time. I think she missed me. Taking a man's dog isn't right.

I'm glad I'm out of that marriage. There's a couple of humorous parts though. After selling the house, I found a smaller place and used the VA to get a loan with no downpayment. She complained to the judge that she has to live in an apartment. The second funny thing is that about a year later Lucent Technologies started downsizing. I was able to retire with a pension. Her and the boyfriend's division was shut down and they both lost their jobs with only a minor payment.

Nov 20 will be 11 years for us, we've been together a total of 12 1/2 years.

We got married at the Tombstone Courthouse, and there was a hangman's gallows right outside so I did have other options.
