W-409 Posted September 1, 2011 Author Posted September 1, 2011 Hood is primered from the both sides now. It's bad that hood is not detailed from the "wrong side", so I didn't take time to modify it realistic, because this might be the last time, you can see it from that side. I'll paint it maybe next week, same time I must paint the Hemi Dart Super Stock. Hope the weather is good, so I can paint it then.
W-409 Posted September 13, 2011 Author Posted September 13, 2011 Just a little update. I painted the inner fenders gloss black. Also steering wheel is now ready to assembly. Next step is foiling the body and painting the hood. Then few little parts on their places, and body/interior/chassis together.
Dr. Cranky Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Nice, very nice. Please keep it going.
nybuilder Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Looks good. My buddy did the Nomad version of this kit, turned out real nice also.
W-409 Posted September 14, 2011 Author Posted September 14, 2011 Thanks both! I've built that Nomad version too, need to say that these kits are fun to build. I built my Nomad Gasser style, and it turned out Ok, I think. I'll be working with this one today, stay tuned for an update.
W-409 Posted September 14, 2011 Author Posted September 14, 2011 (edited) Interior is finished. Steering column is painted matt black and that turn signal switch (what is the name of it?) and column shifter are painted silver. The knobs are black. That steering column and steering wheel also were really easy to put on their places, and they look quite good. Next I'm moving on to the body, inside it and hood needs to be painted also, but today it has been raining all day and it is not going to stop, until tomorrow, I think... W-409 Posted September 15, 2011 Author Posted September 15, 2011 Today I installed those coil over shocks. They didn't fit so nicely, but I managed to get them glued. I'm almost finished with the body painting from inside, tomorrow I maybe put some BMF, if I have time.
MarkJ Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Great start, Nikko. Especially like the interior.
W-409 Posted September 20, 2011 Author Posted September 20, 2011 Thanks, Mark! Interior turned out pretty good, and I'm really happy about the end result of it. I've painted the body inside, and today I will put some BMF, no pics because I haven't that camera right now. Maybe tomorrow I can get it back, and then some pictures.
W-409 Posted September 21, 2011 Author Posted September 21, 2011 Finally got the camera back. But I haven't had time for building on the last couple of days. So here is the picture of that body, which I painted inside. Headliner is flat white, and otherwise it's matt black. Tomorrow school ends at 12.00, so maybe I can get some foiling done....
crazyjim Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Nothing like a SHINY :) red 57 Chevy. Looks good.
W-409 Posted September 21, 2011 Author Posted September 21, 2011 Thanks Jim! I like also these Classic Chevys, and of course with shiny paintjob. And I agree, Red color fits nicely to '57, and of course other models too. Hood needs to be painted, but right now, I'm waiting for better weather, so I can paint it outside...
W-409 Posted September 22, 2011 Author Posted September 22, 2011 Now it's foiled. Huh, it took few hours easily, and lots of Bare Metal Foil. But the end- result is alright, and next I'm going to clean up that body from inside, and hood needs to be primered, when the weather is good. First time I tried to put some BMF to those little textes and badges on the front fenders, and trunk lid.. They turned out pretty good, better than painted ones. More pictures.....
crazyjim Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Chrome looks terrific and sure adds to the attractiveness of the car.
deathskull59 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 very nice red 57 chevy! all though the way that the sides and the rear of those fins. with out the fin covers and just the rear bumber at the botom gives me an idea.
CaptainAhab Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 lookin awesome. Very clean BMF work, not an east task, sir.
bandit1 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 ooohhh! i got two of those needing rebuilt! i may have to pull them back out!
W-409 Posted September 23, 2011 Author Posted September 23, 2011 Thanks, Jim, Mark, Nathan, Joe and Sean! Really appreciated. I like it too, looks pretty good now. Nathan, great to hear that you got an idea of this build! Can't wait to see, what's coming from your bench. Joe, that's not so easy, you're right. Especially those side trims are hard to foil, but I made it somehow. And Sean, can't wait to see your projects as well, you have to pull them back out!
W-409 Posted September 25, 2011 Author Posted September 25, 2011 Just a bit of detailing on the engine. I'm not taking this as far as the Super Bee, but I had to install those anyway. Now I might leave it alone, few hoses etc coming in the final assembly anyway.
W-409 Posted September 26, 2011 Author Posted September 26, 2011 Hood is now painted. Not perfect, but it will look good after polishing, and bit of BMF will give a finished look to it, hopefully. Body is now cleaned up inside, and glass parts will be glued tomorrow.
W-409 Posted September 28, 2011 Author Posted September 28, 2011 Windshield and rear window installed. They fitted really nicely, and now I'm going to install the interior to body, and then coming the chassis. Hood needs to be polished also.
Dr. Cranky Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Wow, that red's POPPING! Nice, excellent paint.
W-409 Posted September 28, 2011 Author Posted September 28, 2011 Thanks, Doctor! I like that red too, it's Revell's Enamel paint, number 30. Painted with spray gun. Here is again little update. I installed the interior. It fitted really nicely and it was very easy to glue on its place. Also I found battery for this one. It's Delco. I had to remove bit material from it, because otherwise the hood didn't fit. But now everything fits just fine, and battery needs to be painted... Here you can see the difference, polished body, but hood isn't polished yet.
bandit1 Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 hey where did you find or can you find an delco battery like that? i got to find me one or two !
