Irvin Arter Jr. Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 I started another project. I bought a resin Brookwood wagon from The Modelhaus. I started to build a 409 but, I thought how about something different for me. Years ago my dads partner in his body shop loved Buicks. No matter what car he had it had a Buick motor, so I will do the same. I took a Ertil/AMT 66 Riviera 425 cubic inch "Nailhead" and placed it in with only a little modifying to the bottom of the automatic pan. Fits like a glove! Here is the stock motor adding a Arrowhead prewired distributer and I scratch built brackets for the alternator and power steering pump. here you can see how I cut the pan so it will fit in the frame @ 1/8" with a razor saw. I also am getting tired of my hoods falling off so I hinged the hood and filled in the cowl and took off the wipers (it doesn't rain on my shelf anyway) I use Key-flo 2 part polyester putty. I am using the wheels and tires from Revell 32 Ford and added the "ARTERAKE" (HAHA) shaved off the door handles, may or may not add them later I also shaved off the tailgate and smoothed off the emblem on the "V" molding (still needs a little cleanup) I am thinking 2 tone paint but, not sure ENJOY!
455 Rocket Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Looks great! How about a white top with either a bright yellow or turquoise bottom?
Jairus Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Nice rake! Looks great there. I like the teal and white but that has been done to death. Try something different besides two-tone just to be diff. I have to ask tho... why the Buick motor instead of a Chev?
Randy Kern Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Irv, does that body use the El Camino kit or the Monogram hardtop? I have the El Camino kit, and would like to do a four door wagon like we had when I was a kid, but I've only seen this two door body. Looks good already, are you going to keep the front side spears? Might look even smoother without them. HOK silver basecoat and candy tangerine would also look good!
Tom Kren Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Hey I got one of them too! This is as far as I have got on it and I put it back on the shelf. I know yours will be a knock out keep us posted!

Irvin Arter Jr. Posted February 28, 2007 Author Posted February 28, 2007 I am thinking black top and House of Kolor Tangelo Pearl for the body. I am keeping the side spear. I used a Buick motor to be different. I always build Chevy motors. It could be worse I could have put a Ford in it. HaHa
41CHEVY Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 :?: NICE WORK!!! Can you show how you did the hinges! They almost look like struts. Do they work? Paul
41CHEVY Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 It uses the El Camino kit There is a 4 door wagon available from Jimmy Flintstone... BUT I don't remember if it is a 59 or a 60. Paul
Billy Kingsley Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Looking good Irv. The 59 is actually one of, if not my all time favorite Chevy design. I've got one too but no farther then initial mockup. Mine'll be factory stock though, I think...Just gotta decide on the color! :?:
Ron Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 Thats gonna look sweet....keep at it. Cant wait to see this one finished. I love these old wagons. Ron
hogs29 Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Oh man, I looooove those wheels tucked in there like that! What a great project!
Mike Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Very cool! I've never seen that car/wagon before. I also really like the direction you're taking it. 8)
JAFFA Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 I have really never heard the name brockwood before! Anyone got some address with some facts or something?? Looks much -59 impala-ish. Anyway love the style so far, love stationwagons too, so ill be following.
cruz Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Another great choice of subject and it wouldn't be complete without the belly button close to the floor......Can't wait to see it finished and in the weeds
VW Dave Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 I agree the black over tangelo would make that wagon pop.....although somebody's earlier suggestion of yellow & white inspired me to dig up this pic:
