freightshaker Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Hey guys its been a while.. but I finally got the truck done.. and im fairly pleased with the way it came out. I feel its a great scale representation of the truck my dad drove and I grew up riding in. The hardest parts were hand painting stripes, the front axle placement, and the front quarter fenders for the hood.. mostly because they came with no mounting hardware and i had to scratch build. I used the AMT Diamond Kit but streched the frame and used an aftermarket hood, A Kenworth 36 inch sleeper, wheels from another kit, some odds and ends i picked up from sourkaut, and scratch built the bumper, the bumper poles, I cut down a barrel fuel tank to make a small hydraulic fluid tank and moved the exhaust system behind the sleeper. When I moved the exhaust i scratch built an exhaust stack bracketting system. Please let me know what ya think, all comments welcome! Anyways here she is..
Chuck Most Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Very nice! I wish Round 2 would reissue this kit, even though the one I'd build wouldn't look this cool.
Wagoneer81 Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Well done! I always was fond of the Diamond Reo and yours is one of the nicer ones I've seen, a good looking old workhorse!
freightshaker Posted December 9, 2010 Author Posted December 9, 2010 Thanks guys for all the comments.. It was fun to build but i think of all the trucks i built this one took the most time. Round 2 is apparently reissuing this kit at some time next year.. so i guess ill buy another one then.. im anxious for the K123 Kenworth and the Fruehauf Van trailer but they keep pushing the date back on them.
