DRG Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Hey guys I was hoping you could offer a little advice about painting this 62 Chevy I'm working on. I want to paint the body Chevrolet Marina Blue and was thinking of doing the interior in black. The wife thinks that will be to dark and I kind of agree with her. Any suggestions???
mikemodeler Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Don, Why not paint the interior the same color as the exterior? Many cars of the '60s had matching paint and interiors. You might want to do some internet searches to see what interiors were available with the marina blue exterior too.

Agree on the blue on blue theme; also consider a white interior if you want more contrast. A white interior might look very nice with a Marina Blue body and a white roof.
crazyjim Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 How about a light grey interior with some blue accents?
motorcitymadman Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 how about beige seats, dash, package shelf and door trim. marina blue carpet steering wheel concole if it has bucket seats, lowere lick pannels oh by the ny blue steering colum woth chrome turn singals arm with if app. a tilt chrome arm. as astro the dog would say (rotsa ruck he he he )
charlie8575 Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Marina Blue is a 1966-'67 color, but a field repaint is always possible. I'd recommend a blue interior with it, too. Fawn was also available on the Bel Air, which is a very light tan. Take Testors flat tan and lighten it about 2-3 shades with flat white. The blue is pretty close to Chrylser Engine Blue with a little darker blue carpet. Charlie Larkin

samdiego Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 I really like black interiors but it does make detail hard to see. I try to vary the sheen as much as I can. Seats might be semi-gloss clear over a flat black with door panels and console being flat clear over gloss black with a Tamiya semi-gloss black dash. The differences are subtle but if you're going to look that close, you'll pick them out. if there is any bright work down low make sure to highlight them to give a visual target down in the depth. you might consider an almost black for the carpet instead of black black. That's how I do it.
