moparmagiclives Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 does anyone know a good way to get dryed super glue off the side wall of a vinal tire....ooooops
charlie8575 Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 My suggestion would be flat black or flat white acrylic paint to cover it up. I don't think it can be removed with any degree of ease, convenience or effectiveness. Charlie Larkin
Art Anderson Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 does anyone know a good way to get dryed super glue off the side wall of a vinal tire....ooooops You might try using acetone or one of the fingernail polish removers containing acetone. Acetone is the debonder (solvent) for cured CA (Super Glue). Straignt acetone should be available in most any paint store, or paint department of a home improvement store. As a word of caution, try it on another tire that doesn't matter, or perhaps the vinyl sprue from the center of another tire or which it is attached to. Art
Draggon Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 How about sticking it in the freezer and seeing if it will chip off?
935k3 Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Acetone is probably not a good thing to use. Believe it or not letting it soak in water a day or so will probably break it down.
Terry Sumner Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 That surprises me...I didn't think Superglue would even stick to vinyl tires! Wonder if that would work gluing those 2 part slicks together?
SuperStockAndy Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 I didn't think Superglue would even stick to vinyl tires! Oh yes, it does. I found out the hard way!
LoneWolf15 Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Sand it off ! A small piece of 320 grit will take it off . Then again , you'll have to sand all your sidewalls to make them look uniform . Once you've done that , I believe that it will become part of your building ritual . By sanding the sidewalls and where the rubber meets the road , it gives your tires a much more realistic appearance . The Old Man
Agent G Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Maybe try flexing the tire and see if it will chip off? G
moparmagiclives Posted December 21, 2010 Author Posted December 21, 2010 All great ideas guys, thanks a bunch. The problam with some, is the wheel is alrady installed. thats where the glue came from. And I stripped and painted the wheel, so I'm a little nervus about stripping agents. the sanding idea sounds good if I can get it to come out even. Thanks again guys.
Chuck Most Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Maybe try flexing the tire and see if it will chip off? G That's my first trick,too- but I guess it wouldn't help on a mounted tire. I'd try carefully chipping it off.
