Reeves Racing Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 This is one of my favorite race cars. I have always wanted to build it. I finally found a kit on the Bay that wasn't too expensive. This is the Union re-box of the Heller kit. Testers "Italian Red" lacquer Duplicolor "Pure Linen" lacquer Testers "Wet Look" Clear Speedline tire markings (the kit didn't have any) Radio Shack wrapping wire for plug wires. The rest is box stock The fit is a little complicated and I had to heat up the rear deck in hot water bend it and put it in cold water to set the reshape. The rear frame/suspension is very delicate. Surprisingly I didn't break it... I was so excited to have this kit , I may have rushed it a little but it was a blast to build and I am quite happy with the final product.
vizio93 Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 Wow the rear deck sounds like it gave ya some trouble, but it was definitely worth it. You've got a great model here B)
Crazy Ed Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 Nice Job Mitch. One of the famous Cars from my favorite era of Racing. Ed
peter31a Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 Very nice Ferarri! Love the sports racers from the 60's. Great work.
Peter Lombardo Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 Yes...I like this very much. A number of years ago I built this car, but converted it into the Penske Sunoco version. I really do like the true Ferrari red version though. Nice job....I know what a bear that kit can be.
Reeves Racing Posted December 25, 2010 Author Posted December 25, 2010 Thanks guys, this kit is a real builders kit. It has alot of parts and detail. Here are some process shots of the engine/rear suspension and the header assembly.
Draggon Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 Oh, so THATS what it supposed to look like! I bought this new in maybe, 1968 when it was issued by Heller and found it unbuildable with the skills I had at the time. Great job!!
davyou5 Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 Oh How I love these Ferrari's! Even the Race Car Builds :) Ahhhh, Oh, Exceptional Job on that Build .
Dave B Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 That's a great job on a difficult kit, I've built a couple of the Heller Porsche's and both Ferrari's
