I hardly ever use all of the decals from a sheet and I was wondering the best way to store the leftover decals for long term storage. I want to keep them separated by model so I have been putting the left over decals in craft baggies and labeling them. I was recently told however that the decals could react to the plastic and become useless. I don't want to just throw them all in one box mixed together. How should I store them?

Robert,I store my decals by the sheet in zip lock freezer bags trying to save the pieces of the paper film you get with the kit as a protector between each sheet.I then store the freezer bags in a large plastic container that you can by at any craft store (Michaels,Hobby Lobby ) and have the containers stacked on one another on my workbench which is in the basement and at room temperture. If you use decals made by Slixx,I always save the bag they come in and put the unused decal sheet back in the bag and then in the freezer bag.I also cut off any decals that are left on sheets,if there is'nt very much, and store them in sandwich baggies and the license plate decals are cut off and placed in a small plastic container ( the type of container a child would use for crayons and such ) and the container is labeled LICENSE PLATES,this way all I have to do is rummage thru the container to pick out what I'm going to use.

Hope this helps and don't worry about the condition of the decals,as long as their laying flat and stored at room temperture,I don't see anything happening to them.

Great idea my friend. Do you guys think that wax paper would also work to replace that protective paper film that actually comes with the decals? Isn't that the same material?

Get a ring binder and some of those clear plastic sleeves that you put sheets of paper in and keep all of your decals in there. Makes it easy to find the ones you are looking for as well as keeping them flat and dry.

I use those but for smaller decals I use those hockey card sleeves.

I keep mine in a report style clipboard (the kind that is a box to store forms). It is a handy size and keeps the light out to reduce the chances of fading.

I also saved some of those dessicant pouches you get in a lot of packaging to help keep them from getting moist with temperature / humidity changes. I don't know if that is really neccessary in my climate but I saw someone mention using them and they are free, so why not.

I keep after market decals in the package they came in and put loose decals in a paper envelope with a piece of wax paper.
