rmvw guy Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 I want to see some paint on it but, I don't want it to be over. It's fun just checking back on this one once in a while. It has been a fun ride but, I can see it getting close to the finish line. So sad.
Darren B Posted May 16, 2012 Author Posted May 16, 2012 Ron and Jeff thank you for your comments, Ron, I can keep it up for another year or more (lol) but really wanting to get to an end with this one.
rmvw guy Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Thanks Darren, I just located your '50 Chevy pickup on here, so I'm O.K. Looking forward to seeing this one under glass now.
Darren B Posted May 31, 2012 Author Posted May 31, 2012 just a little up date painted the gamer pieces for the front of the casket to see what they will look like and trying some patterned decals for the casket paint job, which now im leaning towards boyds pearl orange with decals.....
John Teresi Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Darren......coming along nicely ......can`t wait to see the paint.
ARTEMIS1759 Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Darren I know it has been a while since you hinged the doors but could you PM any pics you got on it? Also how you built up the door panels? Great Build though. Can't wait to see this one done. Thanks.
Darren B Posted May 31, 2012 Author Posted May 31, 2012 (edited) Darren I know it has been a while since you hinged the doors but could you PM any pics you got on it? TJ thank you for your comments as far as the doors I am in no way an expert on hinging, in fact my hinges are huge because I used a really thick brass wire because it was easy to bend, some use paper clips cause they are really strong but hard to bend. Check out Dr. Crankys you tube he has a great tut on video on hinging. Well I have come to a decision on paint, (CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?) after long and hard thinking its down to two colors. I am not going with the original idea with all the patterns cause there just isnt enough room to lay out good patterns on this truck with the round fenders and smaller body panels, and the casket is even more graphics un-friendly, so its gonna be metallic orange for the main body and casket and purple for the fenders, with some decals on top like skulls, barb wire, and things like that. Not going all out on patterns it will speed up the painting process since these paints say they dry in minutes, never used them so will see what happens. Edited May 31, 2012 by Darren B
Clay Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 That orange is a nice deep color. both colors should look really good together, if you haven't used these paints yet they can be finicky to use, making dark streaks where you over spray.

That is a really cool color seeing it on your truck, nice build. All parts are now getting a base coat of silver now, and will let that sit overnight then start some coats of color!!! Darren B Posted June 1, 2012 Author Posted June 1, 2012 there kinda thick and this is just the visor but im liking them already since its already dry to the touch. Might be my new favorite paint!!!
Darren B Posted June 1, 2012 Author Posted June 1, 2012 (edited) just had to try the fenders as well not to bad. I have to get ready for work or i would try the orange but first thing tomorrow gonna try the orange to see how the two colors look side by side! Edited June 1, 2012 by Darren B
cobraman Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 Just when I think you could no way add more detail...... BAM ! More detail. This is a fun project to watch.
