1932 Surf Woody

This model is the only first place I've ever gotten at a contest (in the contest theme, Surfing).

Starting with the Fink woody, I removed the inner panel and replaced them with thin spruce, so that's real wood. I painted the frame using a technique from an old SAE article. The engine and transmission comes from an AMT Firebird--had a heck of a time shoving that straight six in there! The intake and the exhaust are made from aluminum tubing, and the window glass is clear styrene all around, and the surfboard was made from those ubiquitous wooden sticks.
