I see another "us versus them" discussion has popped up. :D

So once again I'll explain it to you, but I'll talk reeeeeeeeallllllly sloooooooowwwwww so you all get it:

If Spotlight Hobbies has a problem, why post here about a problem over there???

The appropriate place to talk about that problem is on the Spotlight Hobbies board!

Who is banned from SH, who said what on SH, who doesn't like who on SH... that's all stuff to talk about on the Spotlight Hobbies board, not here.

And finally, the Spotlight Hobbies board is what it is. If you like it, hang out there. If you don't like it, ignore it. But don't bring their problems over to our forum. :P

Tom didn't bring it here. Greg Myer did. He came here and reported that people were being SPAMMED by Tom's board, without providing relevent information regarding the issue. He left it open to interpretation. Noone received any real spam from Tom's board. No spammers emailed Spotlight Hobby board members. The posting field has an option to forward replies to your posts to your email. If a spammer replies to a post, then that message gets forwarded to you. Someone figured that out, and tried it on Tom's board. The solution is as simple as to uncheck the option when you make a post. It will stay unchecked by default unless you clear your cookies.

I think it is perfectly within Tom's right to explain his side of the situation whenever and wherever necessary. I have been a member of that board for 11 years and counting, and I like that Tom doesn't leave personal attacks from people up there to fester. I also don't want to lose a good forum, just because of someone shooting bad/incomplete information from the hip. Tom's post was made with nothing but good intentions, and to attack it was needlessly rude. Respect should always rule the day. Flame suit on.

For right or wrong, Tom runs his forum a certain way. His board is 100-percent a reflection of his personality, and is pruned of any opinion or discussion that falls outside his viewpoint. His sandbox, his rules. Those that like it should enjoy that forum for what it is.

This forum is run a different way. People other than Gregg get to state their opinions. There is a much higher tolerance for debate, discussion, and differing viewpoints.

This entire thread highlights the difference between the two. Unlike Tom's forum, people get a chance to say their bit too. As I type this his forum is frothing with people bashing MCM, and Tom stating how "rude" the posters here are.

It's sad. What was once a positive place for modelers to meet and share has become a place where one person's personal problems with specific people gets aired again and again.

It's telling that Greg Myers hasn't said a whole lot here...the other party keeps the fires stoked. Sorry this had to happen to you, Greg. You're not t he first, and won't be the last.

Mark, you nailed it. Spot on commentary. Thank you.

I think it is perfectly within Tom's right to explain his side of the situation whenever and wherever necessary.

And I think it's far more appropriate for Tom to do any explaining he feels he needs to do about his forum and how he runs his forum on his forum.

And anybody who's a member over there and has a problem with how things are run over there should resolve those issues OVER THERE!

If, as some have said, Tom doesn't allow anyone to post anything that goes against his own personal beliefs, then there's always the option of sending Tom a private email. (HELLO!!!) :D

Why in the world would a Spotlight member feel the need to come over here and start a rant about a problem over on the Spotlight board? You can see what that has caused here, three (so far) useless threads about problems that are happening someplace else! :P
